Please help! I ate one cupcake

The sad thing is that it was probably a grocery store cupcake and not even worth the 200 calories.
I do agree to see your dentist if it hurt your teeth though...3 -
Depending on how dramatically you've changed your diet -- in other words, have you eliminated things like sugar, wheat, and other potential reactive foods from your diet -- also, if the cup cake was commercially made, it could have contained dyes or chemicals you've previously eliminated -- and you're reacting to it. If not, as the others have said, a half of cupcake does not ruin your dietary plan; it's OK, a little bump in the road. You shouldn't feel guilty about it. Your reaction to it being overly sweet says you've made great progress in changing your palate. Pat yourself on the back.

Wow what a sigh of relief. thanks everyone. I have another question. I purchased two different scales and one say that I am 313 and the other says 315. Which one should i believe7

Welcome to my world!
Back when I was on a normal diet I’d feel fat and antsy whenever I had sugar or carbs. Best way to get rid of it? Work out. Even though I am Keto now if I don’t workout regularly I get the same feeling, always resolves with high-intensity excercise.
Hope that helps!2 -

315.
Seriously. Only use one scale. Different scales do not weigh the same. Take the other one back.2 -

Your absolute weight on the scale doesn't really matter. All that matters is low variance of the scale at the same weight. You're usually using scales to measure progress, not determine your absolute weight.
So whichever one you want to believe, use that one everytime and measure yourself at roughly the same time every time under similar conditions.1 -

Thanks so much for the advice. This is my first sweet since December. I did have peanut butter cookies but they weren't as sweet as the cupcake. It was so sweet until it was disgusting6 -

Because it needs to be a small number8 -
OP, I want to just advise you to seek the expertise of a nutritionist and a counselor. Coming from someone who had and still has a difficult relationship with food you need people to help you with the emotional attachment side of food. I myself struggle with certain aspects of eating/food but I can say that the reactions you are having are not healthy and will only end up sabotaging your weight loss efforts. Please seek out professional help.5

The point is, "It doesn't matter." You need to educate yourself on weight loss, calorie deficit, water weight, and lots of other things.
Do you like podcasts? Try Half Size Me. Maybe hearing rather than reading will help.6 -

If you lined up ten scales in a room and stood on all of them at the same time, you'd likely end up with 11 different weights. Different scales will be calibrated differently and it's impossible for us to know which is most accurate. If you like the one that reads 313, then run with it. It doesn't really matter in the long run. Just pick one and stick with it to reduce the variables. Two pounds does not matter in the grand scheme of things. I know that it matters to you very much at the moment, but you're asking us to give you information that can't be given. We don't know anything about the two scales other than that they're different and that they're stressing you out to no end. We've been round and round on this. It does not matter. We cannot validate you on this. Just pick one.5 -

No, it needs to be consistent.
Your mindset toward your weight and eating are very troubling and are not healthy. You need to see a mental health counselor.4 -
I also vote for a dentists visit.1

tinaalisa15 wrote: »Hello. I am a prekindergarten teacher in the US and today is valentine day. We are celebrating by making cards, eating candy and cupcakes. I ate only one cupcake and it was so sweet that I couldn't stand it and had to throw half in the trash. The sweetness of it also hurt my tooth/ I assume my reaction to the sweetness came from me not having anything sweet since I started eating healthier two months ago. I ate the cupcake and I feel like ive gained 20 pounds

So you figure a cupcake is around 150 calories?? Just walk fast for 45 min afterwork Even if you did 30 minutes the cupcake would be cut in half xo. Today is very hard I totally get it~ Happy Valentines day my friend! xo0

You didn't even finish the cupcake. Log the half you ate and move on.
Between this thread and your other one, I think you need to take a step back and evaluate why you're doing this. Gaining water weight isn't the end of the world. Eating a cupcake isn't the end of the world. I've had two cupcakes this week because I decided to buy some. This is about learning how to handle this for the rest of your life. Are you ALWAYS going to avoid cupcakes/sweets? Or do you want to learn how to moderate these into your goals?1 -
This thread will remain closed.
