Last run for the month and a bit short of Goal, to many days on downhill ski's and out of Town for work. I needed to get in 2-3 more long runs to make goal. Ironically Tomorrow - April 1st is a planned 20km and then into Taper for my slow HM next weekend. The serious racer might say I should already be in taper. Due to not making my goal for Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb and March I plan on running the HM - not racing it- so going out Easy and Tapering off.
5 km Riverbank Shorty tonight - Pace Builder. Start out easy and slowly build pace and cadence.
03/01 0.0 km – 0.0km – 140.0 km – YTD 128.32km
03/03 12.0 km – 12.km – 128.0 km
03/04 5.0 km – 17.km – 123.0 km
03/07 11.0 km - 28 km - 112.0 km
03/10 15.0 km - 43 km - 97.0 km
03/14 4.4 km - 47.4km - 92.6 km
03/17 16.35km - 63.75km - 76.25 km
03/19 5.0 km - 68.75km - 71.25 km
03/24 10.0 km - 78.75km - 61.25 km
03/25 6.0 km - 84.75km - 55.25 km
03/28 10.0 km - 94.75km - 45.25 km
03/30 5.0 km - 99.75km - 40.25 km - YTD 228.07 km Riverbank Pace Builder
In early March they started work on building a new bridge over the River as the old one is reaching max vehicle/hr load limits and is due for a major maintenance retro fit. Also it use's a cantilevered arch so load width and height are severely restricted. Which means they had to cut an access road through our beautiful Riverbank Trail system to get down to the edge of the River to start installing Piers and Bridge footings. So now it is two separate/isolated 3 km trails with no easy connection grumble grumble.
Onto April and the new challenges of spring running.4 -

@PastorVincent Excuse my ignorance. This is probably a stupid question but.... What does "BAH" stand for?
NothingIt an onomatopoeia... umm think "BAH HUMBUG!" ummm dictionary says it is "an exclamation of contempt or annoyance" - in this case general frustration at events that prevented me from doing what I wanted to do.

Hey everyone! I'm the worst at posting on here. When I get the time I'll compile race reports for Charleston Marathon, Newport News One City, and Va Beach Shamrock 8k and Half. It was neat seeing @MobyCarp at Va 8k Shamrock. Of course he was already finished and tanning by the time I crossed the line. That man is truly amazing! Though the runner in me would love to toe up with him in a mile. You all honestly inspire me! I've learned so much from this group. I only hope to encourage others in the future.8

What a gorgeous sunny morning. Started with an amazing huge full moon right after sunrise too. It was like people staggering out of hibernation and into the sunlight for the first time. Between the two big running groups that meet up and individuals, there were hundreds of runners out at the park today.
I got 10 miles in, and felt pretty good. Which brings me over a hundred miles for the month which I was not expecting. Given how much snow and cold we had this month I'm pretty happy with that. Now let's bring on a lovely April.
Great job this month, everyone. See you in the April thread.

@7lenny7 I hear you on being non-OCD; my run last night was 49.97km...ooooh, so close to a 50K run, lol. And that race shirt looks awesome!
@Orphia Maybe next year. Maybe.
@polskagirl01 Hilly marathons and flat marathons each have their own challenges; with flat courses, you run faster and due to the lack of hills, you end up using the same muscles over and over for the entire distance causing fatigue to occur earlier. Of course, the upside is that there are no hills to deal with.
@shanaber Congrats on your retirement!
Due to heavy thunderstorms, Wednesday was an unplanned rest day, Thursday was a very foggy run, and yesterday I got out of work early enough that I was able to get over half-way through my long run before the sun set, proving once and for all that I'm not really a vampire. It was also the last run of the month for me, so I beat my goal by some 88 miles this time.

Ugh I just wrote a really long post and despite telling myself to not hit the done button... I hit the done button.
MFP needs to get rid of that damn thing.
I was supposed to race this morning and I was looking forward to it all week. It was a particularly difficult payroll week (and I hate payroll weeks more than anything) and this was going to be my fun time.
I agreed to shoot an event last night as a favor to a friend. I was told it was 6-7. Cool. I'd be home by 8. Plenty of time to eat dinner and relax. Well turns out the event is 7-8. Ok home at 9 is later but still workable. So they are running behind and don't start until 8. We left at 9 pm.
I got home at 10 and ate some dinner and tried to drink some water but I knew I'd never be able to make my race this morning. I am still not feeling 100%. There was nothing I could eat at the event and I didn't have any water. I was dehydrated. I had a headache and I thought I was going to pass out.
I know to take food with me, which I did but I only had one protein bar because I was told I'd be done by 7. Needless to say I slept until 630 and missed my race. I knew last night I'd be in no shape to get up at 5 since it was almost 11 by the time I went to bed and I wasn't feeling well.8 -
@RunsOnEspresso Sorry to hear that you missed your race; especially one that you'd been looking forward to.0

Yesterday was a travel day to London. Grueling trip, but can't complain.
Finally got my run in after ... 8 days off!
Felt so good to run again! Foot is a little sore but not like before so I think the rest helped it.
The gym here is very nice! Did my stretching there before the run. More runs planned starting tomorrow!
Happy Easter!

March total: 40.1m
Eta: Just came home from the LRS with new shoes—Saucony Kinvara 9’s, to replace my aged 6’s. Crazy bright orange and red.5 -

Today's notes: Got in 13.8 on trails with about 5in (13cm) of fresh snow on them. That made my legs pretty tired, but the run felt good, even if I did go pretty slow. Starting to feel ready for Zumbro. Talked with my pacer last night, and it sounds like he'll be a good fit for me, so that's another thing I don't have to worry about.
Hope everyone is having a Runderful day!
