How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?

I don't have a working scale at home so I am relying on the scales at my local doctors surgery (which are going to be much more accurate as they have recently had them all calibrated). I have ordered some new batteries for my home scales but I know they don't work well and can change by a number of kgs with the slightest movement on the floor, so they are pretty useless . So, I am just going on how my clothes fit on me and how I am feeling (Little Miss Blobby today or Miss Pert and Trim, hmm? ). I did do Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers and the CSIRO diets and they all suggested once per week and no more.

Every day until I finish losing my final 10 lbs then I will probably taper off to once a week when I figure out how many calories I can eat to maintain my weight. I just started changing my eating habits over the past 4 months which is not long enough for me to NOT revert to my old ways. Trying to really be disciplined. I have no issues working out, its actually a stress reliever for me...and so is chocolate. See the problem1

I started doing this from February this year, and it has helped to keep me on track.

I weight myself first thing each morning, wearing only boxers and after doing my business, and record that in a spreadsheet
I take the average weight from that weeks daily weigh ins and record that in MFP as an 'official' weigh in.
I do however weigh myself pretty much every time I go in the bathroom in a state of undress because I find weight fluctuations fascinating rather than devastating.0 -

I weigh every day, mostly out of curiosity and totally without judgement. However, what I log is probably unorthodox. I only log the weight when it reflects a loss - my graph looks like a completely linear weight loss pattern - I have the same exact weight every day for two weeks at a time, and then a few days of dipping down. The reason I do this is pretty much a mind game - if I was 162 yesterday, and today I am at 163, I know intellectually (as long as I am adhering to my calorie goals, which I have been) that I DID NOT gain a pound of fat overnight. I must still really be 162, but there is water retention, food waste, etc. still in my system. So I see no reason to log the little ups and downs. Yesterday and today, I hit my new low of 160.5. Tomorrow, if I am at 161.5, it was not because I gained fat, and if someone were to ask me my weight, I would say 160.5 :-) Convoluted? Perhaps. But it works for me (9.5 lbs down so far!)1

I weigh myself every morning when I wake up and have used the bathroom. I don't pay much attention to the number though. I just let it sink to my phone and then it'll give me a weekly average. I'm lucky enough that I've never had a lot of issues with the scale or food, so I can weigh myself and even if it's +/- 3 it doesn't ruin my day or anything. It's all about that long term trend and my current goal.2

I used to do it every day and I found that if my weight fluctuated and it was up, I tended to eat more that day because I felt like giving up, so I have now started every week.1

For me I can tell when I'm losing weight because clothes that were tight fit better, have more energy and feel less lethargic when I walk

As you can see, whatever works for a person with their lifestyle and personality, so you won't freak about it. There's no "wrong" way and no "right" way, except what works for you. If daily is a stress, do it less. If waiting too long messes you up, do it more.
For me, I prefer daily- and I suggest anyone doing daily also use a weight tracking app (Libra is popular for Android) because it gives you the "trend" line, that is, it helps smooth out the highs and lows because we know water/etc makes weight variable, not just food, so you can see whether your weight actually is heading up or down, or maintaining over a longer period.
I would much rather see when something causes a (relatively) big difference than be shocked several days later, when its harder to compensate for or correct.

I weigh in every Friday morning. I stopped weighing in daily because there were days I did not lose anything. I have found that I lose about 1.5 to 2lbs per week on average.2

I weigh myself every morning. But I track it only once a week on MFP.
It's mostly just to keep myself in check, and see where I'm at. I am down 45 lbs so far!2 -

I weigh myself daily and record it on my Fitbit app. I record once a week on here (on a friday). It helps me see a trend and monthly fluctuations (I'm up 1.5lbs today on Wednesday but I'm mid cycle so I know it's ovulation gain and am not stressing about it). It's just numbers and, as long as long as I continue to log accurately etc, I know they'll go in the right direction eventually.1

Rarely! Scale measures everything ( water , fat, muscle etc) body fluctuates day to day, even hours to hours, my best tool is my measuring tape, how my clothes fit, and my food diary( logging honestly and logging everything)!1 -
I see once a week as pretty reasonable, and it seems to be the most common. I usually weigh once a week, sometimes twice.
I think what matters more than how often, is your attitude to it and relationship with scale weight. If you can weigh frequently and take it for what it is / not get too hung up on a number then fine. If mentally weighing less often is more beneficial for you then do that.
Ultimately, we all have fluctuations and several things can influence how much you weigh at that time, so weighing more often can obviously show more of an up and down, which is not just going to be fat or muscle. If you can deal with that, do what makes you happy.2 -

I weigh daily to keep myself on track. Each morning on empty stomach/bladder. I currently average about half pound loss daily. In 19 days, I've lost 8 pounds. It's really whatever works for each individual. This works for me.1

I also weigh myself every Sunday. I feel like once per week shows the most significant changes when you've made progress.
I found when I was weighing myself daily I'd get discouraged due to weight fluctuations now I just get discouraged on my rest day, work out my emotion and head back to the gym the next day haha.1
