Getting Rid of Hip Dips?

I only noticed mine when I lost weight - so as someone said above, losing weight could make them more prominent - it is all individual/genetics. not sure why people are so bothered by them? of all the problems you could have in the world hip dips don't even make the short list of things that bother me.7

I've never really thought about/noticed hip dips. Now that I am thinking about them, the fittest person I know, my best friend (who is also super attractive and modeled in her early 20s) has noticeable hip dips. She's 5'2, 110 pounds, and a yoga instructor who also does crossfit. They are obviously more genetic than weight related, but definitely not something I'd worry about.2 -

Can I ask why? I'm working on going the other direction. Genetically, I can't go too small, but the smaller my hips/butt are the better!
I cut mine down and grew back up on purpose. I went to 37 inches but the whole point was to get lean, and then build back up with muscle. I don't have a chest or anything. I want a nice beautiful booty.0 -

I prefer a thicker look. I’m kinda tall (5’6) and me having no hips makes me look lanky. But that’s my own personal opinion on myself.
I'm kinda short (5'6") and prefer the slim look which would make running and cycling a bit easier ... but bones are bones ...
Yeah I used to feel that way, and my hips were even smaller than 40 at that time. All I did was cardio and was a size 0 lol. I wouldn’t wanna look like that now, but to each their own ☺️
It's all about perspective ... and personal goals.
Yup. I can't even fathom wanting to grow my hips 5 inches, but to each their own!6 -

Personally, I'm working on building up my butt because I have big boobs and shoulders, and I'd rather look like an hourglass than a lollipop3 -
Mine get worse the leaner I am as well, I'm working on minimizing it by building muscle in that area the best I can. I honest to god thought for the longest time that it was the result of wearing nothing but low-rise jeans as a teenager. Now that I realize it's just how my bones are structured I don't really think about it too much. I'm hopeful I can round out my hips a little more, as I'm so small chested I feel it would give me a more feminine silhouette, but if I always have a dip there it wont be the end of the world.0

Sitting here thinking "What the hell are hip dips?! OMG, do I have these, too?!?!?"..... hahaha
Thank you @middlehaitch for posting that pic.

I just had to Google what those are. Turns out they're the things I detest on myself that make my lower butt/upper thighs look so huge. Huh. If only you could get rid of them.0

May we each celebrate our own best bodies - and other women's self-defined best as well, even if different!
At 5'5", and a healthy weight for me (120s), my hips are 34" (even though I'm decently muscular for a li'l ol' lady . . . or comparatively, for a similarly-built li'l young one, IME, actually, if you don't mind me being a little self-satisfied).
I will not grow a beautiful 45" booty on my specific body in any known universe, without excess fat. I could probably grow a couple-three inches, tops. And I might not be even able to do that at max effort, at age 62. Don't care.
I like me. I don't question anyone with materially wider pelvic bones celebrating herself at a healthy-weight, strong 45".
Go, you! You. 45", 32", runner-narrow, ancient-goddess thick, anything between or beyond, as long as compatible with healthy and functionally strong: Go get it.
Edited: Typos.

I have always had hip dips, no matter what I weighed. I always thought they were the result of having muscular quads. It never once occurred to me to feel bad about them.6

Here's a decent illustration.

I will admit to looking twice at my hips in the mirror this morning, before slapping myself in the forehead, saying "yup, looks like I still have a pelvis," and going on with my day.8 -
Funny... I was just this week admiring how I've lost the fat on the sides of my upper hips, only to hear that this is now apparently an undesirable feature. *eyeroll*9

Depends on genetics mostly
Edited: read whole post4 -
Ever since I developed hips during puberty, I have had hip dips ... especially when I'm lighter ... but it wasn't until about 6 months ago, here on MFP, that I discovered that there's somehow something wrong with them.
Big ol' rolleyes!!
They're genetic ... embrace them! That's how you are and there's nothing wrong with them.
I had to google them to find out what they are. Never ceases to amaze me how some people go out of their way to think up ways to criticize their own or other peoples bodies meanwhile there are real problems in the world....3
