The summer before last I weighed 255 pounds and decided that I had enough. With the help of myfitnesspal I lost 45 pounds and got down to 210! I was thrilled and moving forward! An abusive boyfriend and depressed eating for months led to gaining 80 pounds in 6 months... I'm at 290 and I know I can lose it but I can't find the motivation I had when I started.. I eat good and workout and start seeing results and then break down and eat and eat and the cycle never stops.. I want to be healthy and happy and energetic, any advice for sticking to it?

-Are you allowing yourself enough calories? This isn't a sprint to the finish, it is a long term change of habits.
-Have you figured out which kinds of foods help you feel full?
-Do you allow yourself to eat yummy things? Sometimes people feel like "eating well" involves plain chicken breast and kale. Spices and flavors are your friends!
-For most (all?) of us who are obese, there is an emotional component to food. How are you addressing your emotions without food? One thing I have found useful is what was presented to me as "mindful eating." Turn off the TV and radio, put aside the phone and just be present with your meals. Of course, it helps if you already added some flavor to said meals!
-For your mental health as well as physical, find some kind of exercise that you enjoy. Preferably one that will get you out and help you meet new people.

I definitely make sure I'm eating at my calorie budget nothing below or above and I love boiled chicken in salad and grapefruits and all the stuff I used to eat and working out makes me feel energetic and productive and I go to my town gym with tons of helpful encouraging people- but if I get stressed out about anything or upset I find that I definitely overeat and then lose all motivation as soon as I'm done and just repeat the bad eating day after day until the cycle repeats. I didn't do that when I lost weight before, I don't know how to mentally overcome it:/

Maybe instead of reaching for food when you want comfort, you can go take a walk to cool down, it's a great stress reliever and you know it burns calories unlike food.
