I would make sure you weigh yourself at the same time every day preferably in the mornings before you eat anything so it is more consistent. Sometimes when I weigh myself in the morning and then at night I feel discouraged because I gain a lot of weight during the day (sometimes well over 10 pounds). Also sometimes major weight fluctuations are due to major dietary changes. Have you changed your sodium input? Sometimes that can lead to a lot of water retention.2

While I've never had any of the behemoth burgers on page 1, the biggest Whataburger I recall ever having was similar in calories to the BK Triple Whopper.2

My God now i want a burger..
Thanks a lot16 -

My stomach looks huge and has doubled inside and my neck feels really fat like I don’t even have a chin or jawline. How can I get rid of this immediately makin me so depressed and miserable
You did not gain 9 lbs of fat in one day.
If you have really swelled that much are you having an allergic reaction? Seek medical attention?
If not:
You may be retaining water if you ate and drank at a restaurant- sodium, carbs.
You may have extra food waste in your body still.
You weighed at different times of the day. Weight naturally fluctuates throughout the day.
Pick out a different outfit if you feel that bloated.6 -

Most of the nine pounds you gained are likely just water. It would be hard to gain that much fat in two days.
Could you also be bloated from pms? Or be constipated? Or took in too much sodium? Those kind of things could be in play.
I think you should not cancel mothers day just because of your scale number going up.
Just do your best to log everything you eat, then get back to your program. Hug.3 -
Did you move your scale from its usual place?
While everything people above said is absolutely true, it is still very unlikely to gain overnight 9lbs of water and extra food circulating in your system, even if you ate a lot a few hours before. Not to mention fat, which is literally impossible, as has been said before. A scale, however, even couple inches moved, can show several LB higher or lower numbers. Those 2 things combined can well give that seeming jump in weight.
You (a man) have not been through PMS. Lots of us woman know the crazy amounts of water that we gain as part of pms.
My grandma had ovarian cancer, and at one point they were able to remove 19 pounds of water from her belly. Fluid retention happens.8 -
I'm have been known to temporarily appear to gain 8 - 9 after a treat meal, salt and refined carbs fonif for me, they make me retain water, cause bloating, and even though I know it's water weight, I still feel crappy about it. Drink a lot of water, or eat foods with a lot of water content in over the next few days and it will come off.2

Never weigh yourself the day after a cheat meal or day lol. I've gained up to 15lbs after. Just drink plenty of water and go back to your normal diet. It will even out in a few days.2

I can gain 5 lb between 8am and noon with normal daily eating. It's very typical for Wright you fluctuate during the day and certainly immediately after you eat a lot. Relax and stick with your plan!2

Who the heck is wooing everything in here? If you disagree with something that's being said, it would be a more productive conversation to say that. If you think woo is positive, it's not. It's means you think the post is based on BS.16

I was wondering that myself! I chose to view my woo as a "woohoo, great advice!" instead of the alternative... I'm presuming it may be one person hitting all of them, and they probably (hopefully!) think it means woohoo.8 -
Has OP showed up to see all this great advice?
Its a pity if they haven't because they would have learned to calm down about fluctuations.. geez Louise! how many threads can this forum have about mega gains happening either overnight or within a few hours - common sense should tell them it's not real gain!10 -

That's generally what I assume too, and don't particularly care. Just thought I'd point it out so that maybe we can spare at least one person from starting a thread about the woo button, or commenting on how they used it to cheer people on.9 -

I got sick just looking at all those pictures Dear lord, who can eat all that in just one seating?
Depends how far I've just run.... :laugh:4 -
I'm going to swear right here. *kitten* the scale. It's just a reference anyways. You had a cheat day, as you well deserve. Now keep up with the lifestyle as per usual. No need to panic, think or fret. Maybe only weigh yourself once a week for starters. Good luck.3

If you eat a big meal why would you not expect to see the weight of that meal immediately reflected on the scale? Food doesn’t become weightless when it enters your body. You have to give it time to digest. Food, waste, sodium, TOM, and more can show up on the scale. It’s just part of having a working human body. You have to learn to accept those daily fluctuations and stop getting inside your own head. And cancelling plans? Why? You don’t have to be miserable to lose weight! You still need to live your life and it needs to be a life worth living or you’ll never stick with it and have sustainable weight loss. You need balance and patience. And probably don’t weight yourself after meals.11

If it's any comfort, I gained 8 lbs overnight in Dec. after a cookie binge. It was extremely temporary.7

I know. But it can make the scale go up crazy high in hours. Proving in some cases, that water weight can go up quickly.1 -

Sometimes I wish they could just drain regular water weight like they can ascites. Stupid edema.2
