I wish IF blocked fat, if it had I would have never became obese.3

Ahh yes, because fasting builds muscle and all.
you're right, doesn't help build muscle, but helps keep fat gain at a minimum though, at least it has helped for me
IF doesn't keep fat at a minimum, it's your calories intake vs how much you burn per day. If you're above maintenance at a small caloric surplus, you will be building a good portion of muscles and another portion as fat....this is without taking into consideration sodium, water and glycogen. The higher the caloric surplus, the higher the fat, but unfortunately muscle growth are limited especially if you have many years of lifting experience. IF alone doesn't do anything in that department, CICO does.1 -

Not true. Total myth. Compliance is the only benefit worth talking about. But hey, if you disagree, please site the studies that prove differently.1 -
Is IF the new Keto? Been seeing a lot of “information” on it lately.3

IF is the current fad (along with keto and HIIT, it seems) - and is being hugely hyped and sensationalized far beyond what it actually is. I'm starting to wonder if Oprah and Dr. Oz have been promoting it, judging by its sudden popularity. All kinds of silly magick and wizardry being associated with it.3 -
Call me old school, but I eat six times a day to keep my metabolism humming. Fasting is counterproductive. Jmo.14

your metabolism runs whether you eat 6 meals or 1 meal a day. my metabolism still runs and I fast. how many meals you eat has no effect on your metabolism.neither does breakfast3 -

you said "but I eat six times a day to keep my metabolism humming. Fasting is counterproductive" so how is fasting counterproductive and what did you mean by eating 6 times keeps your metabolism humming if you didnt mean working/running? yet you asked me to cite that meal timing has no effect on metabolism.2 -
No one is dumb enough to think their metabolism just stops if they don't eat six times a day, including me.
I said "jmo." Just my opinion that fasting is counterproductive to my steady metabolism. I'm not sure why my opinion on this has had this effect on you.6 -

you said it was counterproductive. you didnt say for YOU. if you didnt think people needed to eat 6 meals a day to keep their metabolism humming why ask for citation when I claimed meal timing has no effect of metabolism then? its not affecting me but newbies that come here to read the forums may think they have to eat that many meals when in fact they dont. now if they have diabetes or something to where they have to keep their glucose balanced by eating several meals a day thats one thing. but many people here eat OMAD(one meal a day) and have no ill effects and no problems with their metabolism.4 -

Whether or not fasting is counterproductive to your metabolism is a statement of fact.

To add additional citations from some very well respected people in the community (Lyle McDonald and Martin Berkhan), who are some of the leading researchers regarding Intermittent fasting. Just to baseline though, your metabolism is all the chemical processes that occur within a living organism to maintain life. It is not that fragile that one would need to feed it constantly to live. Otherwise, mankind would have never made it.
