Hi all! My name is Debbie and I’m 53 years old. I’m starting a Keto plan and would love encouragement and food recipe ideas, especially for beating a sweet craving. I’m doing orange theory and walking.

The first covers accurate logging and some of the tools in MFP to help you make things easier. The second discusses caloric needs and setting goals. These two posts completely changed my MFP experience and helped me be much more successful, so I hope they do the same for you.

Since I have started a Keto diet, I have not found anything sweet that I enjoy other than Lipton's Southern Sweet Tea. It is pre sweetened with sucralose. Other than that I just have to turn away from my past carbohydrate comfort foods. In fact, food itself has to move out of what I seek for comfort.
Walking up stairs without having to stop to catch my breath is a bigger rush than cookies right now. If I can keep the rewards of better health and nutrition ahead of the euphoria of junk food, my life is going to be worth living and not just something to endure.
I am 56 and I am not to old either.
I am willing to share recipes. Just let me know what types of foods you like.2 -

Welcome to keto. I am certainly not too old even though I am 61. Since starting keto (I am on a medically supervised HFLC eating plan of <20g carbs a day for insulin resistance) in November last year, I have shed 21.4kg (about 47 pounds). My blood markers have all improved and I came off blood pressure medication in December. My mental acuity has improved and I do not lack energy.
I no longer have cravings for high carb or sugary foods and as a bonus my alcohol intake has dropped to almost nothing as I no longer feel the need to drink it.
