Let's say you had a friend who was joining the dating world for pretty much the first time in their life, as they had always been in relationships in the past.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SAID FRIEND? WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DATING AS AN ADULT?

I'm not sure, but following because I have a "friend" in the same boat. Hoping to get some pointers.1 -
If you are venturing out to the web to meet someone, you MUST have a sense of humor. I always knew that if I did not meet Prince Charming, at least I would have a good story to tell my friends at lunch !6

My "friend" just dipped her toes into that cesspool and in the past two weeks she is horrified at some of the profiles! And this is on a paid site, she thought the pickin's might be better that way. They are not.

I am just entering the dating world and one advice that I would give is they should start by making trying to make friends. Build up the communication skills first and in time they will meet the right person. Also if they are dating because they are unhappy then they should think about focusing on themselves first before entering the dating world because nobody can make you happy except for yourself.7

If you are looking for a "nice" person online, make your profile uber conservative. No sexy pictures. The creepers and the people looking to just hook up will leave you alone. The "serious" people will take the time to read your profile and contact you. This worked for me... went on several dates with very nice men until I met my guy!!!6

I wouldn't give advice. People don't want advice. They want people to agree with them.0

Decide up front how much time and effort you want to put into cyber stalking someone before you're comfortable meeting them. Personally, I don't bother. It gives me plausible deniability when their wife contacts me.3
