So, sparkling water takes care of 99% of my soda desires! I go through plenty of sparkling waters, I prefer the ones with a little natural flavor, but found I don't need the sweet side of artificial sweeteners (which I prefer to avoid if I can most of the time).
I still have my coffee every morning, so that kept the headaches at bay.
What are flightonutrients?
They are things that cause other nutrients to leave, or "fly" out of you instead of being absorbed, hence flightonutrients. Things like soy and other legumes can be high in them. That might be why cancer is going up in the USA as soy consumption goes up.
When I drink milk, it "flies" right out of me. I'm guessing it's not that I'm lactose intolerant. Instead it's caused by the flightonutrient in the milk. I had a feeling all along that big brother was putting something in the diary products of Americans as a means of population control. They'd rather see us on the toilet than to be exercising our rights.10 -

Bacteria don't know or care if your drink is sweetened with sugar or an artificial sweetening substance. Either way the bacteria will happily take advantage of the weakness in teeth and gums. Given a nice cavity or gap in the gums that makes brushing more difficult, bacteria will thrive leading to decay and/or gingivitis. This information came from my dentist.
My comments regarding withdrawal symptoms are based on personal experience.
Weird! I always have great check ups with my dentist and I drink diet soda almost everyday.
Well. I don't. Some people do have great strong teeth, others don't.2 -

Well that sucks. I’m sorry0 -
I should really quit drinking pop as the caffeine aggravates my heart palpitations.
OP If drinking it is causing negative effects on your health or you're drinking 24 cans a day then yeah it may be time to quit lol. If not, I don't see the harm of having a pop as long as it fits in your daily calorie goal. You guys do you!!!2 -
I drink a 7.5 ounce can of regular coke a day and have been able to lose weight. To me its all about moderation.0

The withdrawal symptoms were terrible but I ploughed through and it was worth it. Diet coke may not affect your weight loss but it certainly affects your teeth. The bacteria in your mouth can't tell the difference between sugar and sweetners and the acid in the drink attacks the enamel. My teeth and gums have been much healthier recently. Also after the initial withdrawal symptoms I began to feel better in myself. I slept better and my digestive system worked better.
Since the bacteria in your mouth live off of the energy in the sugar and sweeteners don't have energy, you should get your findings to the nobel prize commitee asap, you just solved world hunger and intergalactic space travel in one go.
How can a sweetner like aspartame have no energy, it is a peptide. Do you not count calories from protein?
Fine, I guess the 0.8 calories for a whole can of soda are really going to get the bacteria going just as well as the 150 calories of sugar in the regular.7 -

I went on a health kick about 6 years ago and cut out all sodas, substituting water in its place. I craved it at the beginning since I was drinking a 2 litre bottle every day. About six months after I cut it out, I was running errands with my daughter on a very hot day. We pulled into McDonalds drive thru and ordered 2 large cokes since they were only a buck each. I took one sip out of mine and couldn't drink anymore. All I tasted was a mouthful of chemicals. I was astonished how disgusting it tasted. Since then I haven't been able to "enjoy" a soda. Over the last six years I've tried it maybe 3 or 4 times but each time I hated it. I try to drink 8 cups of water a day and 4 cups of herbal tea. Gave up the coffee in December when I had a terrible bout of stomach flu. Love how much money I'm saving now!18

A King's royal crown? Do you play us false? For a play's the thing to catch the conscience of a king.

I'd be worried if there wasn't chemicals in your coke, it'd be a vacuum else.3
