    @RunsOnEspresso I'm so jealous! I was at the Narrows last September, but it was Labor Day and it was absolutely heaving with people with no room to move. Definitely want to go back there.

    2.7 miles today. I don’t know where that puts me for the month, and frankly I’m too lazy to go figure it out. Especially as I know it is nowhere near my 20 mile goal. My week in DC resulted in over 50miles of walking, and that wore me and my darn ankle out enough that not only did I not run that week, but didn’t run last week either. I am traveling for work a lot going forward to a small town that does not have a gym. So, I either gotta get my running back to regular, or eat a lot less... since I won’t be lifting.

    Next Races (more as I find them):

    So running uphill every day is how you taper... right?

    I plan to run home from work tomorrow but I'll take the shorter route rather than the long one.

    Thanks all for the info on the hats, bandanas and Gutrs(?) not sure if I spelled that right @noblsheep! Can you wear a hat with it too? @7lenny7 - for most of my hats the brim does get soaked and the sweat drips off but it is also running all down my face. Have to check out the NF hat! I will definitely check out all the suggestions, except maybe @Azercord's - nothing I can do to get bushy eyebrows! Just not possible!
    @amymoreorless - I love the look of the gym bands - even if they didn't workout for running I always need bands for strength training to keep my hair out of my face and deal with the sweat too but not as bad as on a run! Also love the 'Sweat with Me' tank!

    Thanks @juliet3455... that 'Snush' pool looks awesome! BTW what does 'YTD 290.69km GP Dog park' mean? You running with the dogs now :)

    @lporter229 - I use a HRM and strap and when I start seeing numbers that are way outside the norm it typically means it needs a new battery. I also get HR numbers I know are impossible (like 200+ when I am out for a walk) with my Apple Watch when I first start a workout without the HRM. I figure it just can't find my HR so it gives some weird number that is unrealistic. Otherwise it typically is pretty accurate to the HRM.

    @TattooedDolphinGirl78 - love your new profile picture!
    @RuNaRoUnDaFiEld - welcome back!
    @DX2JX2 - welcome! We all have issues keeping up with the challenge threads just jump in whenever you can/want! We love hearing about everyone's runs and experiences!
    @__TMac__ - love those shoes!

    Rest day today and needed it after a long night - daughter locked herself out of her house after a late run/walk with her pup. Just her and the dog and her Apple Watch which interesting could connect to her phone (in the house) depending on where she was standing outside. So she could text and even get calls. She was outside for about 3 hours waiting for her renter to look at her phone and/or arrive home. She has now left keys with her neighbors and one friend who lives sort of close by. She lives in an 'up and coming' area of Seattle so not the safest place to be just sitting outside late at night.

    I am looking forward to a run in the morning - it is supposed to be cool again for the next few days, yay!!

    @PastorVincent I don't think that's what "taper" means, unless you're used to those types of hills and they were easy for you, or less than what you have been doing. But you're the one who gets to run that marathon aiming for sub 4 hours in just what, a week and a half? How are you feeling about it?

    I do not feel ready. I know I can COMPLETE it, but break 4 hours? No so sure. :( Will find out in a week from Sunday... stalking the weather channel now :lol:

    @PastorVincent rarely does anybody truly feel ready. We all have our nerves and self-doubts when we toe the starting line (ok, most of us anyway). That's what drives us; internal competition with ourselves. Embrace it and just do your best. You will undoubtedly surprise yourself. You got this!

    Well in that case, I'll take back what I said about "if you're used to it and blah blah blah", and revise my response to a simple
    "STOP IT! TAPER ALREADY!!!"

    Thought for your day: The Sunday-Saturday training week before Boston, I ran 24.96 miles total. But the Monday-Sunday 7 days before Boston, that went down to 19.26 miles. I can't complain about the result. In taper, less is more.

    Peak...don’t taper! ;)

    Agree with @MobyCarp that less is more but I also like the advise in this article on the subtle differences

    https://www.mcmillanrunning.com/dont-taper-peak/

    Also, if you feel like running go out and run 3.7 for Matt. London Marathon tragedy where Matt collapsed at mile marker 22.5. You will feel better psychologically and run because you can! #finishforMatt

    @shanaber Yes the SMUSH Pool was awesomely COLD, Picture running through a Kiddies wading pond full of 7-11 slushies. Instead of Brain Freeze it was Toe Freeze.

    GP Dog Park - Just a personal note of where I started the run from. Since I know lots of the GP runners would start from one of the dog parks I thought I might meet one of them.
    No dogs in my house. I spend to much time on the road for work and never know if I will make it home at night so it wouldn't be fair to the dog(s) as they would end up in kennels quite often or I could end up out of town with no pre-arranged dog care.

    For your Daughter I would suggest a Master Lock Box safe for outside her house.

    @PastorVincent It always seems like the best running weather hits just when you go into Taper.
    Resist the temptation and let everything recovery/heal. Have fun at your Marathon.

    @garygse - I did a search on "cadence lock" and if I am understanding it correctly, the watch mistakes the HR for the cadence, so the numbers are the same? If that's the case, this was not my problem, but it is interesting to note how frequently this happens to users. Looking at my HR data for that run, however, there was clearly a point where it just shot up and never came back down. My run yesterday gave me more realistic HR numbers though, so whatever it was, it appears to have been an isolated incident.
