I have been single for 5 years...dated a couple guys for a few months off and on. I have full custody of my boys,so I am not alone. I would like a partner...but haven’t met the right one, yet.

This is pretty much me, too. There are good and bad days-sometimes I think, OMG so glad I don't have to clean up after someone. Other days I think, sure would be nice to have someone to come home to.

Things I miss about being married:

Putting my ice cold feet on someone.
Someone to check my oil and mow my grass.
    Extra help around the house.
    Readily available sex.
    That 2nd income!
Someone to go to movies with.

Things I DON'T miss about being married:

    Constant pointless bickering.
    Sharing a bank account.
Having to check in with someone where I am, when I'll be home etc.
Being made to feel inferior because my income is smaller therefore I'm not contributing as much.
    Dealing with crappy in laws.
Having to choose an ice cream flavor I don't even like.
Watching dumb movies or stupid shiz on tv.
Listening to crappy music in the car.
Soreness in my eyeballs from rolling them 8000 times a day.
The stinky farts and thunderous snoring.

Was married 15 years and have been single for 3.
I'm so cool being single right now.

I agree with so much of this!

Gonna come across like a weirdo probably but after being married for 15 years so far (to 2 different husbands) I can only relate to one thing on the "DON'T miss" list *having to check in*.

The things I don't miss about my ex husband are:

    That horrendous mother-in-law
Guys at my house several nights a week playing video games
Having to go out to chain restaurants because Ethiopian, Indian & Thai "are weird and only for once in awhile"
    His low sex drive

Sure, I miss being in love, the laughter, the company, someone to talk to, sex. But for me, the difficulties lie in getting over past relationships, not just the being alone part. Had a bad marriage, got divorced. Then, I had what I thought was a wonderful relationship for 6 years, even longer than my marriage, and we got engaged....then she broke it off 10 months ago. I am still devastated. Everyone talks about "working on you" and I don't even know what that is supposed to mean anymore. I saw a therapist and it helped a little. But things still suck. I want to believe that with each passing day they will suck less and then one day it just won't anymore.

I hope this doesn’t seem inappropriate but your comment reminded me of this video. It’s supposed to be funny, but it’s actually really sweet too.

It's the best. No one to share a bank account with. You can watch whatever the hell you want on TV. No one is up your azz all the time wondering when you'll be home or how long you're gonna be at Target for. No fighting over which ice cream flavor to buy. No one micro managing how you clean or keep house. It doesnt smell like farts all the time in your bedroom.
