Sometimes, quick carbs are good. Ask any diabetic. And they don't lead directly to overeating, like you state.
That Harvard article just describes what happens when you eat simple and complex carbs.
Okay...... well I see where you’re coming from for sure.
I’m stating that simple carbs CAN lead to overeating because they digest very quickly resulting in a crave for hunger much faster vs eating complex carbs that sustain the body for longer periods of time resulting in a longer gap between urges or craves, whatever word you prefer.
I’m certainly not trying to preach the Bible here. Just stating what “can” happen to spread awareness.
I appreciate the thoughtful and less antagonistic response. It’s nice having someone who really wants to engage in a good conversation. Thanks

They could, for some people. But you are stating this as an absolute. What is true for one person is not necessarily true for another. That is one of the best things about wandering through these forums for awhile. You'll see that what works for one person doesn't work for another. And that's ok.
Ultimately, as long as the person is able to reduce their calories in a way that they can sustain forever, that's what counts.6 -

Or just eat a balanced varied diet with the correct number of calories and enough protein and fat.
I've never taken a fiber supplement in my life and I'm not going to start now.
What is your bottom line, kcurtis? What precisely are you trying to get across here? Because we've had these discussions for years and for thousands of threads.
I guess, say what you mean and mean what you say and know your audience?7 -

That's interesting considering the tone of your post.6 -

I eat a wide variety of carbohydrate-containing foods, including vegetables, fruit, beans, and grains. No fiber supplementation necessary and I get a ton of other nutrients along with huge satisfaction from my meals.
(Not to dig on anyone who chooses to supplement fiber, whatever works!)5 -

Good point -- my husband is another person who doesn't see much impact from fiber supplementation but does see results from increasing the fiber-containing foods in his daily meals.3 -

Are you saying that you had MASSIVE results?5 -
This just popped up on my Facebook... :laugh:20 -
Oh dear!!
Seldom has such a bad start been made.
Maybe a new profile and a fresh start might be a good idea OP?
There's loads of sticky threads pinned to the top of the various forums - you could get a massive amount of education from them.6 -

Pistachio Talenti is on the docket for Friday. Antici-pation, as Siri says. She puts pauses in the weirdest places in big words. I think she needs remedial reading.
Perhaps Siri has been watching Rocky Horror ;D4 -

Hi there! I eat TONS of veggies. Veggies such as corn or sweet potatoes etc... contain complex carbs which don’t manifest into sugar such as simple carbs.
ALL carbs "manifest into sugar". Carbohydrates are all sugars - complex carbs are long chains of sugars bonded together, simple carbs are short chains. Simple sugars are mono- and disaccharides, complex carbs are polysaccharides. A 'saccharide' is defined as "an organic compound containing a sugar or sugars". See the "saccharide" part in the word "polysaccharide"? That means it contains sugars. Yes, even complex carbs are made of sugars.
When carbs are digested/metabolized, whether simple or complex, guess what they are ALL broken down into?
(Hint: Sugars.)Haha! I like the emoji. Big difference in simple carbs vs complex carbs. You’ve probably done some studying on this yourself. My goal is to mainly ingest complex carbs so I don’t store fat through simple carbs. Eating too many of the wrong carbs can lead to health problems (diabetes) and unwanted weight gain. I’m not telling you anything you don’t know!
2) Again, study up before you go any further. Diabetes is not caused by eating "too many of the wrong carbs". There is absolutely nothing factually correct about that.
3) Back to carbs being stored as fat - Carbs are converted into fat via de novo lipogenesis - a process which is metabolically 'expensive' to the body and rarely happens except in massive (i.e., far beyond sane) overfeeding of carbohydrates. But hey, guess which macronutrient is most readily stored as fat in the body?
(Hint: Fat.)13 -
