So I have been on the shot for a little over 3 years after giving birth to my daughter. I did experience a bunch of weight gain (which was not solely caused by the shot, more like due to eating anything I wanted after having a terrible pregnancy).

I was about 145 and gained about 45lb then lost 25lbs but I didn't like the results because I still Looked the same. So I switched up my workouts, added a lot of strength training and started looking a little more toned. Since December 2017 I have only lost 3-4lb and keep yo-yoing around 163-165. So once again I switched up my workouts 4times a week doing a mix of stength training + HIIT + yoga but I have hit a plateau for a good 3 months now (while having a 1500cal diet).

It just occurred to me that maybe the depo shot is stunting my weight loss. I have been reading threads on this and so far its a wide spectrum, some couldn't lose while on the shot while others had no problem

Any ladies experience a hard time losing weight while on the shot?

(Luckily if the shot is the problem I might see a difference in the next few weeks because I am switching to another BC in a few days)

How are you measuring your calorie intake?

Yes but how are you measuring what you track? Weighing in grams using a food scale? Measuring cups? Scanning labels?

And do you track everything, or do you have cheats, days you don't record what you eat etc?

In general, hormonal birth control can lead to weight gain by either increasing your appetite (so you eat more) or making you lethargic (so you move less).

Log accurately and consistently using a food scale for at least 6-8 weeks to get an idea if your calorie level is appropriate.

I was sure I was eating 1400 cals until I got a food scale and realized I was actually eating 200-400 cals more.

Weigh and measure, and if after four weeks of that, you're still not losing, then evaluate whether it's worth blaming the meds.

    Measuring cups aren't good enough.

I've been on it for years. It increases appetite but it won't stall weight loss. I've lost 27lbs in 11 weeks.

Using a food scale should always be the first step before looking at outside factors. It's the most common reason for lack of results and the easiest one to fix.

I've been on it for over 15 years. I didn't gain weight from it, but I gained when I went on meds for sleep because it increased my appetite. The Depo isn't stalling my weight loss at all. As others have said, start weighing your food on a food scale, even pre-packaged. That can be off by 20%.

I had the IUD Mirena (4years) then a Lupron injection that puts you on Menopause to shrink a Fibroma, both are blamed for weight gain, well I kept my exercise level, tracked my cals and lost 10 lbs in about 3 months (When already at a healthy weight) every time I start lacking, I gain weight little by little so I know it’s only me to blame when I’m up :*
