Most calories burned in 24 hours?

First I meant 24 hours. I know a ton of people who have raced, trained, and/or exercised 20 plus.
Why does everything need to be weight loss centric...this is the fitness and exercise category. I guess people on forums feel the need to teach or correct or judge...I suppose it’s in us all sometimes.
Here is my best: https://www.strava.com/activities/1043275403
We got rained out and they pulled us off the course for 4 hours, going back in a month to get all 24...and 400.
So 12,000 in one day. Not bad for a 48 year old.

Looks like we hit a nerve and upset him. Take a deep breathe John as everything will be fine (lol).0 -

Haha, if that hit a nerve I have a really hard life. I think tomorrow I’ll ride 125 miles to settle myself though...1 -
I had some nearly 4000 calorie total days - not just exercise but TDEE - hiking in the Andes, but I'm fairly light (sedentary TDEE is under 1600 calories) so I don't often see those big numbers.
I burn about 1200 running a half-marathon distance, and approximately the same for a 50 mile bike ride.
Sucks to be short sometimes. I'm always jealous that my husband can lay on the couch with his Playstation all weekend, take one 30 minute bike ride with me, and still burn more than I do total in a day while I spend the whole time running, walking the dog, riding my bike, gardening, and grocery shopping.
I ran a marathon last weekend and my Garmin said my calorie burn for the activity was 1400 calories. I walked quite a bit that day, over 31 miles total and 55K steps for the day. My entire calculated burn for the day was 2910 calories. Granted, I am small and "aged", but when I see the calorie burns that other post, I am not sure what world my Garmin lives in.
(FWIW, I eat quite a bit more than what my Garmin says I burn and I maintain my weight).0 -
5,254 doing my marathon 2 years ago.0

If you're interested in long distance bicycle rides, check out the links on the BC Randonneurs website ... they've got one of the better links pages:
http://www.randonneurs.bc.ca/links/links.html
I've been a member of the Manitoba Randonneurs, Alberta Randonneurs, BC Randonneurs and Audax Australia ... and have ridden a lot of long rides.
Plus I've done a couple 24-hour races.
Yes, a person burns a lot of calories doing these events and we need to manage our food intake well in order to get through the event. The last thing you'd want to do is to be in any kind of calorie deficit!! And no, you probably wouldn't want to do these things every day, but every couple weeks is certainly doable.1
