What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

Well...
I want my underwear to fit on my crotch again. Apparently my weight gain stretched out the crotch area and it was highly uncomfortable. I didn’t want to go buy another bigger size. So the next ones I buy will be much smaller and I’m fine with that!14 -
I had no petty reasons for starting my lifestyle change. I legit felt sick af, that decision was for me alone. But I developed petty reasons to keep going. Mostly surrounding my MIL and SIL who would make snide comments on my progress.
MIL: "Don't get to happy with yourself, you'll just lose motivation like I did"
SIL: "a few more pounds and you won't be ugly anymore"
Etc, and so on. I take sooo much joy in the fact that SIL (who was really thin at the time) found all the weight I lost and just traded me her smaller clothes for all my plus size ones lol.
Wow :frown:12 -
I want to look good naked. Simple 'nuff. Haha! When my husband and I first started dating I was a tiny thing. Now, 10 years and 2 kids later I'm up 40+ lbs and would love to look good for him again!21

I’m tired of buying new summer clothes every year. And I don’t want to be the fat mom.16
-
I want to run around the pits in my sports bra and not feel the need to "cover up" all the time on those 100+degree hot days at the track.
And a teensy tiny part of me wants to be back to my old weight so if/when I run into my (now much fatter ex who had a lot to say about my weight gain despite his obvious flab increase) I can be reminded of how much better my life is without him in it - mentally AND physically.29 -
I may be the oldest mom in my kids' classes, but there is no way I'm going to be the heaviest.28
-
I enjoy being flirted with. I want to be told that I'm lying about my age because 40 year old women aren't "hot".17
-
I just want to be hot honestly. I mean, yeah the health aspect of losing weight is cool too but I've never been hot hahaha19
-
I don't want to look stupid or feel guilty for taking gym selfies. I don't want to hate the photos and delete them because of how huge I look15
-
There's a Tinder related meme that goes:
"It's all fun and games until I *kitten* your dad"
I want to be that dad.21 -
I’m getting married in September & my dress is a bit snug now13

I don't want to be the heaviest guy in the room. I've always been the funny fat dude, but why not just be the funny dude?35

Because you’re gorgeous! And they are miserable lol6 -

But new clothes shopping of course!!!( and new shoes)
To not be shy at the pool. ( even though it seems most women are my size or much bigger but i guess i don't have the confidence)
For shock value in people i haven't seen for awhile
And to look kinda hot at age 41..

I was told that after 50, women cant lose weight. WTF? I will be 60 next week, and I fully plan on losing another 20 lbs over the next year. I want to look good in retirement , not old and chubby36

I am at a pretty low point in my life.
Migraines have made me unable to hold my job. My career for which I worked all my life is about to be dead.
Depression and gained lot of weight on anti depressants. Entered obese category.
I am working on alternative sources of income working from home. Not much success there.
I need this one win... At least to look healthy and good. Not unhealthy and obese.50 -
Oh, welcome to the club! I have a remarkable collection of clothes to teach in -- at all sizes, sadly -- and it really does make a difference to the class dynamic. But I think it's best to pretend that rate my professor doesn't exist: there's nothing more frustrating than realizing that they don't remember a damn thing you lectured on but that they all have an opinion on your haircut.
Oh christ...I have one set of teaching reviews to date, from a small section I TA'd in my masters, and it consisted of 9 bland reviews that could have been of the doorknob in the classroom ('does job well') and one that was weirdly negative, and yet still totally impersonal. I should know not to take them too seriously...and yet. Well, it is the petty reasons thread!3 -
I want to walk into stores and just know something in the store will not just fit but make me look cute. I’m hitting 49 this year, and my hubby and I have recently started to focus on ourselves as our kids are grown up. I want to look cute and snazzy for him! I’m the person who has never had a style and never focussed on my appearance. That changes now!21

I’m with you on the jumping-on-arms thing! My bf is really skinny and not much muscles, he wants to gain strength and recomp (it’s odd how trading your 10k-steps-a-day-job to a desk job makes your eating habits show up as a pot belly), and I’m losing weight. Our shared goal is a) me being the lighter one of us b) him being strong enough to easily pick me up
Also, for some petty reason it bothers me that my host family from my exchange student year used to be pretty heavy and I was a skinny girl back then, now many of the family members have successfully lost weight and kept it off, and I pretty much started gaining weight when I returned from my exchange. I’ll never be back to that weight since I was 17 and puberty continued to work its lady magic even after I got back, but I’d still like to be, well, not fat compared to those family members. I haven’t met them in years, but I don’t want the shock value being about me being shockingly fat.
