When they make a movie based on a book, they don't pick all the wrong scenes to put in the movie, and get the wrong actors to play the characters (which is why everyone that loved a book hates the movie)..2

Not always.
When you read a book, it is your imagination doing the work. Creating a vision of the landscape and the characters ect, it is all you. When you watch a movie, you are watching the imagination of someone else come into play, their vision for what the characters looked like, their parts that were important, and so you will never be able to appreciate movies based on novels in the same way you have appreciated the books.
Some do well. I adore the Harry Potter movies but I love the novels. Or it could be that it is my childhood nostalgia coming alive on my television and so perhaps I would appreciate it anyways.
That's an interesting thought. But, I want it the way I imagined it. I don't know about Harry Potter - never read the books or saw the movies.
One that really disappointed me was "Our Souls at Night". Loved the book, and I was fine with the scenes Redford pulled out and put in the movie, and was fine with him being the male lead, but then he went and selected Jane Fonda to play the female lead, and my soul was screaming "NOOOOOOO" .0 -
