    Depends on the job. It's literally my job to keep my boss in check, so I have to frequently tell him off about what he, I, or anyone in the workplace can and cannot do, and I'm always armed with a list of things I tell him to do. Sure, my refusing to do things is usually related to things like "no, we/you/I won't do that, that won't fly with the tax administration/auditor/other authority, it's illegal, against workplace policies, it won't make any sense because X" etc. My boss is the CEO of this company. On the other hand, I suppose all those reasons are really *kitten* good reasons to refuse. The difference is, I don't just refuse, I tell him it shouldn't be done by anyone.

    Also, never ask a woman if it's her TOM, especially in the context of "why are you so angry, are you on your period or something". She may or may not have her period, but the thing she's angry about is probably worth the anger anyway and TOM just means she doesn't bother with keeping her mouth shut about it.
