wait... he gave you the shaft?
Hold it.
maybe stroke it a little....drop the soap and give a little wiggle when you pick it up...
and see how quickly he remembers his promises...
oh...and cup the "Powerballs" gently.......gently

You shouldn't "hold" a friend to anything like that. Either they do it, or they don't. It's not a business contract, it's not even an equitable contract (you didn't give them any consideration (collateral) for them to do something in return).
If you want to ask them if they really meant it, go ahead. But, any judge is going to laugh you out of court if you try to make your friend do this.
Come to think of it, maybe it would be better for your friend to know that you view the friendship of having less worth than getting your promised money or trip.
That's an interesting take. I see your point. Because friendships aren't contracts...it isn't a business.
Myself personally, I come from the train of thought that people listen to what you say, even if you say something jokingly or flippantly. That's why I don't make promises that I can keep. I was raised with an old school mentality.
I agree that I would not make such a promise and then not keep it.
I also never loan a friend money and actually expect to get it back... I think of it as a gift, and if they happen to repay it, cool.
But, if I had a friend who made such a promise, I wouldn't try to force them to honor it. Either they would, or they wouldn't. If they were a very close friend, and the promise was especially awesome (like, a sweet rental in Kauai for a month), then I would ask if they were still planning to do it; but, if they were not all about it anymore, who cares? It's just a *thing*, it's not their stuff or daydreams that made us friends in the first place, so why end a friendship over stuff or daydreams?0 -

see this is where having slap bets comes in handy, it's not permanent disfigurement but also involves you finding that person and giving them a smack right in the face LOL

hahahhaha.
i see what you did there.
well, technically this person (longhorn) didn't get an A&M logo tattooed on his forehead when the aggies won ten games last season, but he said he would.
See now that's just cold! And I wouldn't hold up that bet because he is obviously an idiot that should have never made that bet. Or at least give him a sharpie out... I'm sure they make moron.... I mean maroon sharpies somewhere.0 -
I have never gotten the shaft from a friend, nor have I given it.0

Would you have tattooed the A&M logo if it went the other way? Honestly? I wouldn't expect any more from others than what I would do myself.0
-
Sorry I mean would you tattoo the longhorns uterus picture if it went the other way?0
