Hands down... KETO is the best diet for weight loss
5% carbs 20% lean protein 75% healthy fats at every meal. It’s a winner!

Meh...I wasn't remotely keto and lost 40 Lbs pretty easily.14
-
It is if you like to eat that way. Do you like to eat that way?4
-
I'm glad you found something that worked for you, but I'd be miserable, exhausted, and bored eating that way.
The best diet for weight loss is the one that incorporates the foods you love, makes you feel great, and allows you to consistently hit a calorie deficit.15 -
-
I'm low fat/low fiber for medical reasons so keto would be disasterous for me.7
-
Not for me. But glad you found something that worked for you!9

Keto is not even an acronym, and you're supposed to split macros into nutrients, not foods, so6
-
Yes and let us know in 6 months time if you still enjoy eating like that.7
-
Join the Low Carber Daily and Keto MFP groups. That's where most keto'ers hang out. The main boards mainly has those who achieve a calories deficit through moderation (restricting a little bit of everything) rather than through restricting one macro.
I'll try to link to the group's later. This device I'm on does not link well.

It really does suit some people. I have been <20 carbs a day since October of 2016, and I am very happy with what I am eating. I totally get the fact that others might not be so satisfied with the menus. FWIW, I don't check ketones or use anything special like MCT oil. I do track everything.6 -
It’s best for you. For me, cutting out groups of foods leads me to eventually binge on them.5
-
Just commenting so I can find this post later when someone tells me that no one ever says keto is the best thing for everyone. Carry on.25

Yes, thank you. And this one too

Be nice all. She's excited to have found something that works great for her. I think congratulations - for a new member especially - are more warranted than calling the thread ridiculous, bookmarking it for future threads to prove that someone once said that keto was great (in general rather than adding the apparently required "for me" or "for some") or basically predicting failure in 6 months.
At the very least, which most have done, a congratulations with a "glad it worked for you, but it didn't work for me" is fine. Just the first bit before the "but" would be really nice.

As far as keto being the best diet for weight loss, some facts:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5568065/
A meta analysis of 35 broad based studies where the subjects were controlled for calories and protein. Keto is not the best diet for weight loss according to the proof.
It may be if it's the one you prefer and can sustain. There are some benefits to keto. There are some other forms of dieting. Sorry to burst your bubble but here is no best. There is only a best for you.17 -

Where's that "Awesome" flag when you need it?
Keto is "a way" to lose weight (as long as you maintain a calorie deficit while doing it, which is what causes the weight loss). It is not universally "the best way".
Anecdotally, I lost 74 pounds, have been maintaining the loss for almost a year, and have never once for even one day been anywhere even near ketogenic macros. I average somewhere around 200g of carbs/day.
[ETA:] I did a ketogenic diet for nearly a year. It wasn't sustainable for me, as I was forced to entirely eliminate certain foods which I love and wouldn't want to eliminate for the rest of my life. I'm not about arbitrarily cutting out foods or entire food groups for no good reason.10 -

Would you feel that way if she made this statement about calorie counting or low fat?5 -

Yes.
TBH I don't often go into those threads. They are not relevant to what I do or how I eat, and I was not successful using those woes, so I would have very little to offer. I do not go int those threads to dissuade people from doing that woe or to take them down a peg or two.19 -

Do you mean it's the best for you? If it's the best for you, that's awesome! Go for it! But it certainly isn't the best for me. I lost weight eating 200g of carbs per day so keto wasn't on my agenda. Keto might be the best for you but that certainly isn't the case for everyone. If you like it, go for it.7 -
I am not going to comment on what someone might have meant....or if someone is just being lazy with language. I find Keto works very well for me - generally speaking. I really enjoy the foods that I eat. I love carbs, but they do not seem to love me back. Which is unfortunate (I can make some mean I-talian foods.....). So, Keto is a way of eating for me that works. I would suggest, though, that it is super restrictive, which would very likely cause a good percentage of people to not be able to sustain that way of eating (which totally defeats the purpose). Anyway...Keto is great for me...and others....but - I would not say - great for everyone!2

Lol Keto is an abbreviation and we are splitting foods into macros. Your comment makes no sense.11 -

I agree, but you will always have those people who comment nonsense just to try to sound smart.
I work in healthcare and wanna guess the two most recommended diets by cardiologists? I'll give you a hint one starts with an A and the other a K
But you ask a dietitian and they start talking food pyramids like the 70s.25 -

I’m going with this one.

There’s a lot of haters out here! Keto is awesome! Pumped on other people who have found what I have found. Keep it up Aimee!!! 🤙20

I'd say it's better to be a keto hater than a people hater.13

Let's see... Since doctors on average get as much nutrition training as a high school student, while dieticians literally have their whole field exclusively as their studies, I'd go with those.16 -

For you. And that's great.
Personally, I couldn't stomach eating that way.
