Ah. I think I would stare at that if I saw it happening in my gym. Whether or not there would be wood is debatable.
Can not confirm that is OP.....

Id look but it wouldnt be a sexy look itd be that its happening like on a stage and be questioning why its happening...Not gonna lie upside down bar splits just seems like its screaming look at me, What is the benefit of this? am i in the dark and showing my stupid here?
It's advanced calisthenics. The benefit is full body control and fitness. It's gymnastics without the high impact.
It's not easy, as you have to build grip strength, upper body strength, core strength and flexibility to do it. And you can do it only with lots of daily practice.
And when you finally get to a level where you really enjoy it, you get people like you judging you for doing it. Which was my complaint in the first post.
So are you like “hi my name is Karen, wanna what I can do?”
Why you gotta bring me into this????

Coming into this late, so maybe this will mean nothing in the bigger discussion...
People are going to look at you regardless of what you're doing, but even more so if you're doing something they can't do or don't understand why you would do. Whether or not they are judging you for it is in YOUR head, not theirs (you have no idea what they are thinking). I stare at this guy at my gym who benches 300+. But because it's impressive.
If you don't want people looking at you, don't do stuff in public places. Otherwise, you'll have to figure out a way to get over it.1 -

Thanks bro. Calisthenics is one of those things you have to do in a gym at some point, because of the equipment issue. I do have a dip station and parallettes to do them at home, but you are limited obviously in the other stuff.
You are right. I have to let the comments roll off of me like a ducks back. I enjoy being at a high level of fitness and do the things I dreamed about when I was a kid.
The mentally of people just bugs the crap out of me. They applaud at Ninja Warrior. And they make fun of those SAME PEOPLE when they go about their daily practice to get to the levels of fitness needed to become one.
A woman on this thread said it screamed "look at me." At no point did it occur to her, I wonder how many bench presses she had to do to get the strength to lift herself up like that? Or, how many callous tears that woman has had to have the grip to be able to do that. At no time did she think about the combination of skill that is required to do that. Nope. Just oh, she must want attention.
I could flash my tits for attention. Or have ANY PART OF MY BODY showing in my avi. That would get A LOT MORE ATTENTION.
WHERE'S THE LOGIC??
Ok, I guess I need to work on your advice a bit more. But thanks for it!

Soooo, you're saying that you're practicing your advanced calisthenics at the gym and THAT is where you are getting direct comments? Comments that make you uncomfortable? If so, then address those people directly. No sense getting angry about it if you aren't going to stand up for yourself and fight back. What have you said to those offensive commenters in return?3

I've seen clips of people that are not in excellent shape that can do the splits. I'm not able to do them myself, and never have, but I always thought it was a show of flexibility rather than fitness. Flexibility and the stretching I imagine has to be done typically makes most minds wander. I'm sure the comments from the ladies are intended to be complimentary, but perception is certainly a thing too. Maybe try to find a vacant fitness room at the gym when you aren't using the machines?
Or capitalize and team up with @pudgy1977 to start a training program. I would sign up for it!1 -

Excellent question... thread worthy question1 -

Flexibility is a part of fitness. You can't do a handstand or a muscle up if you lack shoulder flexibility. There are different kinds of fitness. Just because a person doesn't look lean doesn't mean they aren't fit. Football players, for example. They may have lard belly, but they can probably outrun and out exercise most people half their size. And a person who is thin isn't necessarily weak. They can just have a wiry build, but can be exceptionally strong.
There are many types of fitness out there.

If I saw a man doing splits at the gym, I would NOT think to myself, "Gee this guy is strong."
I would think, "Gee this guy is weird...and how does he do that without damaging his testicles?"

It's not even about what others think of her, it's about what she thinks others are thinking of her, which is more a reflection of her own insecurities and view of society/culture than anything else.3 -
I think I'm turned on...

Hmmmm...there was this one girl who posted a video of some of that hip thrusting, booty poppin' and I gotta say...I liked it and still think about it.
Splits...meh. Nice flexibility but not the same class of creepability.

Thank you very much! Did you know that of 8 pages of mostly people talking trash about me and a few nice thoughts here and there, you are literally the only person who answered the question that was asked?
I bet you got an A in your reading comprehension class.
And I completely agree with your opinion, btw.
