Is lesbianistic really a word?
It's just as real and commonly used as underpantidudinous.2 -

Because you're fascinated by the fact that a man took the time to learn how to do the splits. Not many men say to themselves "hey, I think I will learn the splits today" lol3 -

My question is, when men see a woman doing splits, what is he thinking, and, moreover, wouldn't those hip thrusts/glute bridges or Zumba dancing produced more sexualized images for dudes than splits?
Where are you where everyone is doing the splits so often that this is a huge problem with annoying comments? You are getting the sexualized comments from women but wondering how men think so you can be annoyed with them too for not thinking she is so strong and wondering if you do martial arts?
What a person thinks and what a person says are not always the same.
If people have a mindset that more flexibility equals better sex that may be a thought they have when they see someone doing something very flexible. I don't know if most people are really doing sexual gymnastics that require the flexibility of a gymnast or contortionist to enjoy though so it probably is just a fantasy for most people like having a threesome might just be a fantasy.
The women may have the idea it would make them more appealing if they look or move a certain way and be feeling inadequate or jealous when they see another women.
I don't really think about sex when I see someone doing the splits or yoga poses or contorting. I just wince because I am not even half as flexible.

Martial arts splits are rarely perceived or misinterpreted as "too sexy" ... Grew up watching Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Dolph Lundgren, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris and Jason Statham ... "The sexy association" with splits (in martial arts) and the brand Van Damme entered via his daughter with Gladys Portugues some years ago - Bianca Bree ... in her father's footsteps.
So I watched the video you posted, and didn't see anything sexual at all about it. I don't find splits to be particularly sexual. And she's not wearing very many clothes. I wear a lot of clothes, and get the bedroom comments. I think the difference is WHO is doing it. All the people you mentioned were males, then "the sexy association" comes as soon as it's a female doing it. It's annoying.
Why can't a woman be as athletic as a male without judgement.
And since we are on the topic, Simone Biles is without question, the best gymnast in history thus far, being the only human able to perform the "Biles," a move she invented. Back in the old days, women's gymnastics were a bunch of women doing ballet leaps while the men did backhandsprings, because women were considered "not athletic enough" to do them.
Now that women do these things, the first thing is not, "wow, she's as powerful as that man," it's comments about her sexual performance, and "attention seeking" (thanks MFP posters to this thread for adding that to the list of *kitten*).
I think the root cause of the assumptions is that many or most people remember the negative experiences. There are men that sexualize women. There are women that sexualize men. The comments that feed the gender roles stereotypes are often remembered since many take offense to them. The comments that are avout fitness, appearance, changes and progress, etc that are not out of line are usually not noticed as much as the caustic and/or creepy comments.
When I see a photo of a women doing the splits, I think pretty much the same thing as if I see a man doing the splits. They are more limber, and probably inclined to be more athletic in general. I've never known couch potato types that can do splits, excepting possibly people that were involved in gymnastics or such at a younger age. The same applies to workout gear, progress photos, and most profile photos. People just want to show their fitness, looks, and whatever features they feel are positive and worth noting. I don't assume that because they might wear form fitting gear they are trying to be sexualized, but more likely they are proud of their fitness, figure, gains, losses, etc.
Personally I think it's awesome that more women are getting into the sports and activities that were only done by men for years. There are loads of women here on MFP helping break those old stereotypes, and many more working towards that goal. I could easily tag dozens, but won't out of fear of not mentioning the many I don't see in the forums often and wouldn't remember their names.
So in brief, don't let the haters and D bags screw it up for you. If you're proud you can do the splits and are athletic, post it if you want. The creepy types will find a way to creep on it, but please don't think that is the majority of the forum or men in general. It's kind of like the comments on this thread. You ask a simple question and flocks come in to question your question and mock. They contribute nothing other than a distraction. Maybe they just can't do the splits? As someone who has never been even close to limber, it just amazes me that any person can be flexible enough to do some of the things they do. Rather than distract from what they can do, I just appreciate that they made the effort and can do it themselves.
Thank you. I really appreciate the light.1 -

You would have a real problem watching me, LOL. I can do bridges on my elbows, oversplits, turn my torso around while in the splits, do splits straight from a standing position, or from a roundoff. This chick would probably give you goosebumps, but she is inspiring to me:

Here's a tip from Kevin Hart: if you ever get into an argument with a guy and he starts to stretch his legs, run.
All the MMA and Martial Arts guys do splits because they can kick higher and harder.

But you are, and you haven't seen me in person. Weird.

Use a flexibility machine at your gym. It really helps. They usually go to 120 degrees.
At some point, you grow out of that machine and need the ones usually only available at dance studios or martial arts jodos. They go 180 and beyond.

It's advanced calisthenics. The benefit is full body control and fitness. It's gymnastics without the high impact.
It's not easy, as you have to build grip strength, upper body strength, core strength and flexibility to do it. And you can do it only with lots of daily practice.
And when you finally get to a level where you really enjoy it, you get people like you judging you for doing it. Which was my complaint in the first post.

A woman can be wearing a car cover slouched on a lumpy couch with unbrushed hair, no make-up, no cotfee.... Men will still think about sex.4
