I don’t like breakfast all that much. I drink load of coffee instead. I have a small lunch and eat a regular dinner with my family. It is easier for me to keep my weight stable without having to count calories.17

Intermittent fasting is several random but specific meal schedules. The reason for it, is that people have become used to eat anytime, and that is associated with eating too much. Because nobody likes to be told they have to eat less or not all the time, clever people have figured out a way to make the message palatable, by making it interesting and magic so people can follow this and feel special.
A meal schedule that fits you and your day, so that it's as easy as possible for you to eat enough, but not too much, consistently, is a very good thing.
It shouldn't really bother me if people give it a name (and that "skipping breakfast" isn't hip enough anymore), but somehow it does. A little. I don't care. But I do. I want people to succeed, and whatever makes important and difficult things easier, is a good thing. Whatever makes important and difficult things harder, is evil.22 -

The reason for it is that some people find that eating in a smaller window makes it easier to hit their calorie goal.
It will help with weight loss if it makes it easier for you to eat the right amount of calories.
Some people do well with an early eating window, because they have a tough time controlling their consumption at night. Others like a late eating window because if they start eating first thing then they are hungrier all day.
I did IF for awhile because I wasn't really hungry in the AM and once I started eating it was like I was off to the races. But I few months ago I started waking up really hungry and went back to eating breakfast. Nothing else changed, including the calories I need to maintain my weight, I just eat at different times now.8 -

IF is just a schedule. It doesn't cause better/faster weight loss - it's just a schedule.
I eat with a 16:8 schedule most days, but I'm not religious about it. I started eating like that in first grade, ya know? Breakfast, lunch, dinner, bed. I don't do it on purpose, it's just a common human rhythm.
No benefits to it healthwise that have been proven, just a bunch of anecdotal stories and rat studies.26 -

I've gained, lost and maintained weight over years eating on a 16:8 schedule. It all comes down to calories.13 -

OP, usually when someone asks you to message them rather than talking to you publicly, they are trying to sell you something.
You don't need to buy anything to lose weight or get healthy. Eat the right amount of calories to lose weight. Eat at a schedule that makes that easier for you. Eat a varied diet based in a decent amount of whole foods for health. Fit in some treats when you can for mental health. I'm just gonna put that out there for free.15 -
IF is just a feeding window...there's nothing magical about it. Your weight loss is going to come down to your calories, not your feeding schedule. People do IF to lose, maintain, and gain weight.
I did 16:8 IF for years before it was a thing because I never ate breakfast. I'd start eating around noon through about 8 PM dinner...gained 40 Lbs doing that.
I do IF on Saturdays because we usually have some kind of social function/cookout/beer, etc on Saturday evenings...so no breakfast, small lunch, lots of food and drinks in the evening.5 -

I had to go without breakfast yesterday as I needed fasted blood tests. I hated it as I love my breakfast to start the day. I also enjoy a snack before bed because food in my tummy helps me sleep better. From this, I have decided that IF probably would not be a good suit for me. In saying that, IF can work really well for others as the satiety it provides makes it easier to stay within a calorie deficit so I would suggest that anyone that is struggling with satiety experiments with different windows of feeding times to find what works best for them.7

Im not a big breakfast person AND the things I do like for breakfast I shouldnt eat ..pancakes..donuts..muffins..biscuits.. So I skip breakfast and go straight for lunch..just have coffee in the morning and it works well for me7

I love it! I find that by skipping breakfast and morning snacks, The cravings have gone! The unsatisfied feeling after meals and between are gone. I only ate breakfast before not because I was hungry, but because I have been always told to eat a good breakfast and to have morning snacks.7

I had lost weight and hit a plateau that would not budge (months worth). I weighed my food, logged every bite, ran 3-4 times/week, Zumba, etc. A doctor I work with is a huge IF proponent and talked to me about the reasons behind it. I decided to give it a try and did the 5:2 plan. (ate up to 2000 cal/day 5d/w, 2 days fasted till dinner and had 500 calorie meal) The weight dropped off of me. I got the same calories over a weekly period, just divided them up differently. It worked for me. That being said, I've stopped IF and have gained most of my weight back (not counting calories either, or running - it's been a really bad year). I plan to get back at it as soon as I've recovered from my current surgery.13

Apparently I do IF of sorts as I usually eat from 09:00 to about 17-18:00, and go to bed at around 22:00-22:30. I'm usually hungry at daytime, but come dinner the hunger is gone for the rest of the afternoon/evening.1

I tried, sort of by accident, skipping breakfast. It didn't work well for me. So, I'll go back to having breakfast. It doesn't have to be complicated.3

Someone I respect recommended fasted exercise in the mornings so I gave it a go. It was awful. I barely had enough energy to get through my CrossFit class. Afterwards, I was confused and could not for the life of me remember the stretching routine I have practiced after class for over two years now. I went back to breakfast after only the second day of fasted exercise.
IF is not a panacea. Listen to your body if it’s trying to tell you IF is not for you. You can lose and maintain without resorting to IF.

I’ve been doing it for months, it was just a natural progression from not being as hungry any more. Don’t force yourself. After you’ve done keto for a while it will feel like you just can’t eat as often. Much easier to limit your calories, it’s main function is to promote autophagy. I’m an older person and I do notice that my skin feels a lot nicer now and it doesn’t sag as much as I was expecting from the weight loss so far (48 lbs since 2/26). You don’t have to do it every day. Just whatever works for you.17

I IF on days I can't do a good calorie burning exercise (crossfit or running), or I'm planning to eat out for lunch or dinner. I can lift fine on IF days.
It gives me the calories for a good lunch and dinner.
The other good thing about IF is mental. It teaches you that you DON'T HAVE to eat all the time.
It starts to feel good to be just a little bit hungry. Some days you really don't want to break your fast....5 -

Autophagy benefits are speculative and have not been demonstrated in human studies so far. Only in animal ones.11 -
INTERMITTANT FASTING - It really has to do with reduction of your insulin state (typical American diet eats too many carbs all through the day giving insulin response no break) and instead entering into the opposite catabolic state of growth and repair (human growth hormone vs insulin).30

I fast and eat a lot of carbs. some days over 200g. I still lose weight eating in a DEFICIT. if what you are saying is true about insulin then I would have never lost weight eating so many carbs. I am also maintaining my weight at the moment and losing fat eating a high amount of carbs. protein can also have an effect of insulin not just carbs11
