Lose some of the the excitement. Weightloss is a process that takes patience. You can expect to lose up to 1% of your body weight per week if you do everything right, all the time.

Let them be excited. They'll lose some over time, like the rest us, but let people enjoy things!

Speaking of enjoying things, I'll advise the OP to eat in a manner that they enjoy.

They won't last long enough to reach their goal if they embark on a way of eating they hate and can't sustain, as so many new people seem to do.

    Good luck, OP!

While you are excited you may want to take some time to educate yourself by reading some of the threads here:

    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10300319/most-helpful-posts-general-health-fitness-and-diet-must-reads

Knowledge will help you get from your honeymoon phase to a realistic and sustainable plan which will, in time, yield what is called NSVs or non-scale victories. A number on the scale can be nice but, imo, nothing beats all the big and little things that comes with making progress. I love that I am dropping sizes in clothing and wearing things that 7 months ago would have never fit. I just took another 2 trash bags of clothes to a donation center. If I were to guess I would bet that I am only about 2 months from some of the new clothes that I bought last month from being too baggy.

That can be you too. Be smart. Learn what you need to know. Be patient. Don't do anything drastic.

I started on September 1 of last year, lost close to 70 pounds and have been maintaining below goal for a little while now. I agree with the sentiment that you should enjoy the excitement; it's the spark that gets you started. However, I also agree that you should be driven by more. Excitement is motivation and motivation has a short shelf life. Dedication and discipline are what got me through the long haul.

Congratulations on taking the first step! Stay committed!
