You should read these threads that apply to you:

To get started enter your information into MFP and get a daily calorie goal. You don't have to eat a special way you just have to stay within your goal. Plenty of people here have lost their weight eating sweets on a regular basis if not daily. Don't do anything drastic, be patient, and the weight will come off.
The "best way" is subjective. My "best way" may not work that well for you. It is best to get started and make small changes as needed until your "best way" begins to present itself.
When/if you run into problems come back and either search the forum for an answer or ask for some help. You may get a number of suggestions and you will need to work through which ones may work for you.
I am really opposed to setting deadlines for weight loss. I strongly suggest you lose what you can at a healthy and sustainable pace and if you lose what you want by then, great, if you don't you will still be in better health than you are today.
If I can do it you can do it!
ETA: Don't skip out on reading those threads that apply. Whatever the "best way" is for you will start with being well educated on the weight loss process.5 -
There is only one process by which a person loses weight - calorie deficit over time.
There are many methods to achieve and sustain calorie deficit - more or less effective, and what's effective, is part logical/universal, and part individual/preference. Eating too little is not effective. Cutting out whole food groups, or your favorite foods, the same. Not being consistent, is also not effective. But food choices, meal timing, etc, is totally up to you.
You will lose some weight by July next year if you eat less, for real and consistently. How much you can lose, is up to what calorie deficit you can sustain.
Sticking to a healthy set of routines will not just make you more healthy, it can make you feel more confident, regardless of your weight.1 -
That should be easily doable with your stats (288 lb male losing 68 lbs in 10 months.) Start out with a goal of 2 lbs per week. At a certain point you'll downgrade that to 1 lb. But, truly, this is completely doable in a healthy and sustainable manner.1

How many times a week should i go gym and how many calories should i look to be burning,
Currently i go 5 times and lose around 5k calories according to the pure gym machines0 -
I've found that cutting my calories from 1600 to 1200, counting my macros (look it up! HUGE help for shedding pounds), making sure that what I'm eating CLEAN and good for my body (no simple carbs or unnecessary fats) and exercising at least 4 times a week has helped a lot. I've been consistently losing weight over the last 2 and a half months and have yet to hit a plateau12

You got three most excellent answer from @NovusDies @kommodevaran and @jemhhHow many times a week should i go gym and how many calories should i look to be burning, Currently i go 5 times and lose around 5k calories according to the pure gym machines
Your second question has been implicitly addressed in their answers.
For the purpose of weight loss going to the gym and how much you burn during your gym session is irrelevant and a personal preference.
Your weight loss is determined from the balance of the calories you absorb vs the calories you spend. Not by a single side of the equation. And especially not by just what you do on 5 out of the 168 hours in a week.
For health reasons, for feeling good reasons, as **part** of your balancing act between the calories you absorb and the calories you spend, of course going to the gym will have a substantial effect. So would increasing your general activity level.
But, just as there doesn't exist a single prescribed universal way on how to eat to lose weight (other than creating a caloric deficit) there exists no prescribed special way on how many times you should go to the gym for the purpose of weight loss and increased caloric burn.
Well, actually, I am lying: there do exist thousands of "special" ways to eat to lose weight. That's why the diet industry makes money and people continue to cycle through "special" ways to lose the weight they regain as soon as they stop following the unsustainable "special" diet they paid for.
Similarly going to the gym is excellent. Following a training program is even more excellent. And both are methods used by many people to achieve substantial health resultsand strength improvements.
But going to the gym is NOT the "method" by which most people achieve sustainable weight loss. Eating at a negative caloric balance is what achieves that.6 -
Just a head's up: MFP's minimum calorie intake for a man trying to lose weight is 1500 per day. Don't go below that amount for the sake of your health. By the way, congratulations on your sustained weight loss progress so far. You're doing great!1
