My name is Leanne,
I'm 57, stroke survivor, and cancer survivor. I am also a lifetime Weight Watchers member who cannot get back to my goal weight. Today I went to see a nutritionist for the first time in my life. She gave me this app information which I already knew about and told me to come on to the community and to ask for help! So that's what I'm doing, asking for help.

From your "Home" go to your "Settings" and then update your diet/profile settings.
Tell the truth.
Be reasonable. As a stroke and cancer survivor you already know how to fight, so fight for a loss of 1% your body weight each week.
This: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10300331/most-helpful-posts-getting-started-must-reads#latest
is the best place to start learning what you need to know.
This: https://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/search/list
is the site with absolutely accurate information about food and calories. The myfitnesspal nutrition database is user-generated and many users have been incompetent. The USDA database is correct.
This: https://www.convertunits.com
is the site to convert units from such things as teaspoons to grams.
I use it to translate from grams to cups most often.
This: https://captaincalculator.com/health/calorie/
Is for finding how many calories you burned doing that exercise. Some of the exercises you might do are not in the myfitnesspal exercise database, and you'll want to have that resource.
Hint: Users with thousands or tens of thousands of posts usually know what they are saying and have learned a lot of truth about nutrition and physiology.
