Help!!

Hi,
Today is my first day and I’m feeling scared!
I have at least 3 stone to lose and I am restricted in the exercise that I can do as I’m awaiting surgery on a rotator cuff injury.
I’m fed up with being fat and lazy but also know that I’m weak both physically and mentally.
One day at a time I suppose.

I just started this past Monday. I am not incorporating any exercise yet. I want to build one good habit at a time so that I actually continue a healthy lifestyle. This first week I had a headache every day except today and I really believe it's just from cutting out all the junk food in my life. It is much better to keep trying than to never do anything at all.

Welcome! I recommend reading through the "must read" posts as they are a wealth of information and help answer frequently asked questions: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10300319/most-helpful-posts-general-health-fitness-and-diet-must-reads#latest

Simply put though....if you make small changes, eat the foods you plan to eat for the rest of your life (don't cut out foods you love), log consistently and accurately, you'll do well.

    Best wishes.

Great advice from the 2 posters above. One thing I would add -- don't worry about not being able to exercise right now. You can lose weight by eating fewer calories than you need. I know someone who can't exercise either, and they are losing weight. As you say, one day at a time!

Hey, it took me a long time to get back into the gym but eventually I just got off my but and went and got a membership. I didn't even go every day after I got it. I knew that I was paying for it and that I'm just wasting money now if I don't go. I started off just going and doing what ever came to mind. That worked for a bit. Then I started feeling like I needed structure so i just simply looked online for what parts of my body i should be doing on what day, and sofar I've got it worked out like this. Monday: chest / arms bi's and tri's / cardio
Tuesday: back and shoulders / cardio
    Wednesday: leg day/abs /no cardio
    Thursday: repeat Monday
    Friday: repeat Tuesday
    Saturday: repeat Wednesday
    Sunday: rest
I know this schedule could be really busy, you might need to tailor it to your own needs, but at least it's something to get you going. That and being mindful of your food intake. Fish helps a lot for protein.

I"m on post surgery week 7 from my rotator cuff and still doing physical therapy 3 times a week, you don't realize how important a shoulder is till you have this done. I'm still not able to put my arm behind my back or completely lift it over my head.
So in the gym I have been doing a lot of cardio since I have a ton of weight to drop, once I get my shoulder back I need to start incorporating some lifting in my day.
