Thanksgiving splurge?

Thanksgiving is fast approaching (in the States. Our Canadian friends already celebrated). What is the Thanksgiving splurge that you are most looking forward to? I plan on eating ALL THE THINGZ, with zero *kittens* given. However, I make this Samoa pie and I plan to stuff myself on it! Although my 14-year-old has said I need to make two, because he plans to eat one all by himself.

Pumpkin pie with homemade whipped cream. This ratio is about right. I could eat a whole pie to myself.

I won't actually put bacon on the pecan pie I make, but you can bet after seeing this if bacon and pecan pie co-exist in my house at some point I will be putting them on the same plate!

We will also have pecan pie and pumpkin pie, and YES that is the right way to eat pumpkin pie. Although, I prefer Cool Whip, still slightly frozen!3

I also LOVE good stuffing! But it seems to get messed up every year... I don't even know what I'm doing wrong.

Keep your Cool Whip! Whipped cream from a can, or fresh if I'm feeling really frisky.5 -

You and my hubby. Canned, yuck. Fresh is edible, but I really just want Cool Whip.2 -

STUFFING!!!5

Where I live it's all cornbread dressing/stuffing (which I love!) I like a good bread stuffing too, but like @quiksylver296 I have trouble getting it right.0

Having Thanksgiving with my in-laws for the first time so I have no idea what to look forward to I'm assuming there will be pumpkin pie though, in which case Cassandraw3 has it right. And with homemade whipped cream!2

Stuffing is also my favorite part of Thanksgiving! I think this year I'm going to make sweet potato casserole with brown sugar and pecans along with a few other homemade things. The rolls though, those HAVE to be King Sweet Hawaiian rolls! No exceptions.
And Quik, you crazy for thinking oily Cool Whip is better than Ready Whip or homemade.11 -
Yes, rolls! I could eat ALL THE ROLLS! But, sweet potato casserole should be covered in marshmallows.
Also, green been casserole. Yum!

Ooh, yes, green bean casserole. And I cannot STAND marshmallows on sweet potatoes. :sick:5

Turkey. Lots of turkey. And lots of turkey leftovers. And pumpkin pie.3

Give me Pumpkin pie with Redi-whip any day. Copious amounts of turkey, green bean casserole, stuffing, and a slew of pickles and olives is my jam. I'm not one for sweet potatoes or yams, usually skip out on the regular potatoes and load up on turkey. I can always count on my vegetarian sister-in-law to bring something non-traditional and something I'll have no interest in eating.
My wife and I have traditionally run in the 10K in our city Thanksgiving morning (benefits the local food bank), stopped at Waffle House for breakfast on the way home, shower/rest up a little prior to heading to her Mother's house for dinner. Makes for a really nice day and mitigates some of the indulgence. However, this year with the Mrs. expecting in December we won't be doing the 10K. Planning a big lifting session in the morning to make up for it, then all the noms.7 -
@steveko89 Aww, congrats to you guys!
My husband and I are usually the ones doing the cooking (we like it that way - trust me, if your in-laws cooked like mine you would too ). We have dinner in the late afternoon/early evening and I'm typically on my feet running around ALL day. I figure that helps offset some of the turkey and stuffing!1 -

Just sit there in your wrongness, @MoHousdon.

No no no! Homemade rolls! I have to dust off my Kitchen-aid mixer a couple of times a year or I feel sorry for it...

For the last three years, hubby is in charge of the turkey cuz he smokes it in the smoker. So freaking good!3 -
