Need serious help staying motivated

About 4 years ago I was the smallest ( and happiest) I ever was. My eating habits were terrible but I worked out consistently and maintained a healthy weight. Within 2 years I put on about 35 pounds. I went through a bad breakup, had to deal with my mom's depression and my dad's cancer diagnosis. I also hated my job and just felt extremely lonely. On top of that I was also diagnosed with PCOS, which probably is to blame for some, definitely not all, of the weight gain.
Ive tried multiple times losing the weight but Ive had serious trouble staying motivated so I would just end up giving up. Lately Ive been so unhappy with myself so I made the decision to quit my job and focus on myself. I have been working out over the past couple of weeks and eating healthier than I ever have. I decided to weigh myself and Ive lost 2 pounds. I know that I should celebrate the loss but I just cant help but feel discouraged especially after reading stories of people losing over 15 pounds a month.
I reaaally want this time to be the time I shed off all the pounds. Any tips on how I can stay motivated and not give up so fast?
Thanks!!

People who lose 15 lbs in a month have a lot more than 35 lbs to lose. It’s a waste of time to compare your progress to people who are 2/300 lbs.
Set small goals for yourself, focus on taking it one month at a time. And while exercise is great, you can’t out run a calorie heavy diet so you should be weighing/measuring all your food so your calorie count is accurate.1 -
comparison is the thief of joy2

Oh my friend I lost quickly so many times in the past and always gained it back. This time it took me 2 years to get to my goal weight and I have maintained so far for a year. Take your time. Lose slowly and permanently. You will learn so much more and get used to the new lifestyle trust me.0

Agree, slow and steady wins. Look into stress management skills, sounds like you have serious stress and food is always comforting.0

People who are losing 15 Lbs per month are obese/morbidly obese...like way more than 35 Lbs to lose. With 35ish Lbs to lose, you're looking at an average of about 1 Lb per week and then slowing down the line.
You just have to embrace the process, not only of losing weight, but becoming a healthier person...embrace and focus on the process, not the end game.
As far as motivation is concerned...it's an emotion and it will come and go. Ultimately discipline will lead to consistency and consistency will lead to habit. You have to take the emotion out of it.
I lost about 40 Lbs...it took me 7-8 months...it's a long haul, so just buckle up.1
