This hyperlinked thread is from a different challenge I am in ... someone posed the question "How are you going to negotiate staying on track (food AND exercise ..... at least maintain if not actually manage to lose a few pounds) for the holidays?" and here are all the wonderful suggestions. There is a link on page two that leads to the MFP blog "5 trainer tips for negotiating the holidays" (wording of title might not be 100% correct, but close.)

Honest MFP Goal Setup expectations, and then respecting the MFP-assigned macros is always the place to start. Depending on your personal physical stamina / capabilities / interests, Just Do Something active. If there is a "formal kind of exercise" you already do, keep doing it! (gym for either weights or cardio machines, swimming, something at home or something out in the fresh air - whatever!)
If you haven't been regularly active for some time, one of these two threads could give either of you some "general active lifestyle" ideas. Calories burned are calories burned, no matter what the activity ...
