Favorite foods that you can no longer eat

What are some foods that are succulent and delicious that you cannot (because of T2D like me) or simply do not eat anymore? This can be something you regretfully must give up or something that you have given up and have no regrets.
I'll start it off with this:
King size Snickers and a quart of chocolate milk (I actually ate this from time to time when I was 18-20 yrs old and trust me it was quite satisfying)

I still eat all the foods, blah blah blah. I know everyone will pretty much start with that...but let's be real, losing and maintaining 100+ loss means some changes so there's stuff I just don't eat now. Here are my favorites:
Unlimited quantities of Oreos or other crunchy cookies with Horizon whole milk for dunking. Still occasionally get a 6-pack of Oreo cookies and a bottle of fairlife and go for it. But no more half container of Oreos with a quart of milk, that's for sure.
Frozen cheapo beef & bean burritos covered in boxed-mix Spanish rice and an obscene amount of melted Monterey jack and black olives. Don't really miss it, eat tastier substitutions that are less salty and fatty.
Chipotle, Moe's, Qdoba, etc...giant burritos. I don't really miss them much, because I still go there for bowls and the meat is my favorite part anyway.12 -

Tilapia. Crossed off my list for good.9

Oh man, also type 2 here, and for the first few months it was painful! Now that I have taken up running there's not much I can't ever eat if I watch portions, but the days of scarfing down a whole box of Grasshopper cookies dipped in whipped cream are gone forever. The main one though is Coca Cola. I used to love it, I can't moderate it, and since I think diet drinks taste like homemade sin, it's out of my life forever.
There are a handful of things which really don't work for my blood sugar control. Flour tortillas, even supposedly "low carb" flour tortillas, refined white bread in general, will spike me even in small amounts. Same with white rice. Pizza crust, I can tolerate a little but not enough to satisfy, so it's best to pretend pizza doesn't exist.
Fortunately I have a high tolerance for some other carbs, such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, dairy, and fruit. I'd hate to have to give up French fries. If you haven't already be sure to test your blood after eating a variety of food, you might find some unexpected pleasant surprises. Different diabetics have different tolerances!6 -
Type 2 diabetes runs in my family and my sugars have been higher than normal so I have given some things up too - or at least eat them very rarely. Reese's peanut butter cups. I used to open a bag and just sit and eat while reading or watching tv. I miss just being able to not care and eat as many as I feel like. I also miss having a couple bowls of cold cereal.3

Side pork, quite close to the only meat I actually liked, back 44+ years ago when I decided to be a vegetarian. If I decided to eat meat again (you never know ), I wouldn't start there . . . I think the short term consequences might be regrettable - that's just a guess, though. It would be something to work up to.
Other than that, I can't think of anything. I have trouble moderating Taco Flavor Doritos (the old-school ones, not the extremo-whatsits), about the only so called "hyperpalatable" highly processed food I actually enjoy (not a new definition of enjoyment, either - I've long preferred home-cooked foods with mostly one-ingredient components, and found most so-called hyperpalatable foods not very tasty). I'm still working on learning to moderate them, now and then. I'm almost through with a bag in the kitchen, and the most I've eaten at once was 2oz, which is a good sign that I'm Getting There.
I have no regrets about giving up meat, generally, especially after this much time. I can't offhand think of anything else I've given up, other than maybe some stuff I liked in childhood, but don't enjoy anymore.1 -
Bananas because they give me an asthma attack and spinach because it gives me the runs. Everything else, I just control the quantity.2
-
Kiwi since I'm allergic and they taste so delicious and oreos because 2 of them are just sad0
-
Real pizza since I have celiac disease and gluten free pizza isn't quite the same. Nuts and raw cabbage (I love cole slaw) because they trigger my IBS. And believe it or not, tofu and TVP. I loved both of them, but they don't love me back.6

Fruit of all types. I have Oral Allergy Syndrome making eating fruit very uncomfortable.5
-
Shrimp due to anaphylaxis.2

I have not given up any foods; I just eat less of them, and only when I can fit them in my calorie allowance! I've never had a problem with what I ate, just the quantities! I don't eat red meat, but that's been true for 20 years or so. After my gall bladder was removed, eating a nice marbled ribeye steak caused me terrible pain!2

I am allergic to ALL DAIRY so
NO cheese, ice cream, sour cream, butter, Etc. I, however, really enjoy BREATHING so this isn't really that hard to give up. What is really shocking is reading ingredient lists on foods and finding out just how many have added milk. There are certain cold cuts that have milk added that I would NEVER have thought about (how many meats need added milk?).3 -

Candy. Used to eat whole bags in a sitting. Not anymore, lol. Also gave up pizza for the most part. One slice isn’t enough for me. Some of my old favourites actually make me sick now. Just can’t handle the greasy stuff anymore. No regrets though.2

Funyuns and code red dew. Cant stop with just a little.0

I can no longer justify pancakes, waffles, or french toast - carbs coated in butter and smothered in sugar with very little nutritional value. I also no longer drink fruit juice (unless it has rum and I'm on the beach). Salty snacks like potato chips and pretzels are also difficult to justify. Most of these foods were pretty easy to remove because they weren't my favorites.
I still find room to eat chocolate, pizza, and homemade cookies, but in much more limited quantities. I would feel too sad if I had to give those up forever!3 -
Eggs 😢 I love them but they make me sick when I eat them.3

There are some foods that are so calorie dense that I really can't afford to eat them much. I like them so much that when i do eat them I want a reasonable portion, not one tiny bit. These include:
Haagen Daaz ice cream
Nuts
A slice of Costco pizza
Chips and guacamole
Rich desserts like Tiramisu and berry pie. I save these for holidays only.4 -
Sourdough bread. Out of all the things I had to give up when I was diagnosed with celiac, that's the food I miss the most.4

Ooo, I love silver linings!1 -
I can't think of anything to be honest. There are certain things I don't eat as often such as nuts but I never really loved them anyways.1

Because of severe GERD, I can't eat anything spicy, acidic (oranges, tomatoes, pickles), greasy, alcoholic, caffeinated, or chocolate.
My food life is bland and boring.
On the other hand, I'm not tempted to overeat so maintenance is pretty easy now.1 -
For some reason once I started dropping weight I found three things I like to eat that gas me a lot of pain with my gall bladder. Eggs, Nuts, and of all things Cauliflower. I miss the egss and nuts the most0

To some extent corn, since it gives me issues. I still eat it occasionally when fresh and in-season locally, because it is delicious, despite knowing I'm risking negative consequences. Angers me when it's unnecessarily in a black bean soup or what not (there's a turkey chili I'd buy for lunch occasionally, but for the unnecessary corn). I realize this is a totally minor issue vs. being celiac.
My sister had to drop a bunch of foods to address her IBS. Basically uncooked cruciferous veg, melon of all kinds (she loved honeydew), and avocado (which she also loved).0 -
The one thing I miss is how often I would have a milkshake. They tend to be 700+ calories. Having a serving or two of Ice cream is just easier to fit in!0
-
Yesterday I had a Wendy's Classic Double with Cheese and Medium Fries and still finished the day below my calorie goal. So there is a lot I can eat in moderation still that I enjoy.
That being said, two things I've had to give up because I can't really eat them at the quantity I would want to enjoy them properly is pizza and wings. I know there are healthier, home made ways to do them, but its not nearly the same as the restaurant versions.1
