Help, I'm new!

Yesterday was my first day. I am 54, 5'3" and weigh far too much. I started a 30-day challenge on Jan. The one, NO-chips, NO-potatoes, NO-fast foods, NO-fried foods, NO-white bread, NO-soda, NO-juice, NO-cookies, NO-cake, NO-donuts, NO-candy, NO-ice cream, NO-chocolate.
I am going to have trouble eating, or knowing when to eat. My sleep is messed up. I usually don't go to bed til about 3:30 am and get up about 12:00 pm or so, depending on how quickly I fall to sleep. So when I get up I take my RX, with a glass of water. I usually have 2 12 oz coffee w/powdered creamer and Splenda. I am not hungry till about 6 pm. I have even had days I don't eat anything, just drink coffee and water. I eat my main and most of the time my only meal. I had been having celery, carrots, and pretzels as a snack about midnight. Other snack choices would be apple or banana w/p'nut butter, or sometimes graham crackers w/p'nut butter.
My mother always says, "Eat breakfast. You need to eat something when you get up." I have done this but it feels like I am eating way too much. Like, once I start eating I can't stop. One of my RX "take an hour before eating or 2 hours after eating." So above all, I am confused.
So, again I ask, HELP. I would love any input, any advise you can give.

Welcome to the MFP Community. :)

I see a lot of NO in that first part of your post. For me, telling myself NO to all the things I like is setting myself up for disaster. So I tell myself "not as much" and "not as often". ;) Don't get me wrong, 30-day challenges can be great ways to change our habits, but I find that realistic goals help keep me motivated over the long term.

Although your mom said to always eat breakfast, you're the adult now so you can decide when to eat. :) Some of our members like to follow the OMAD or One Meal A Day plan. It's a type of intermittent fasting. Here's one of our largest groups for people who like intermittent fasting:

If you're having trouble sleeping, talk to your doctor about your daily routine, your sleep routine, etc. and consider asking for a sleep study to see if you have sleep apnea. Getting proper rest is important for your health!
