I found out that I retain water when I ovulate as well as around my period. This is beginning to be a big part of my life, it's going to wind up being 1/3 of each month or something. Frustrating. Next month I'll focus on drinking more water and eating fewer carbs for those few days. Probably help with the bloated feeling.
I missed enough gym from being sick that I am so sore from my last workout, I'm probably carrying some extra water there too.
I also retain water like this and it's frustrating because it works out to almost half the month for me. It's made maintenance frustrating at times because I retain more water weight during maintenance during those times than I did while I was losing, so the fluctuations are pretty huge sometimes.2 -

I know, it's like, if my weight is elevated half the month, doesn't that raise my actual weight? It kind of kills part of maintenance for me, I feel like I'm maintaining at my goal...except a good portion of the time I'm not, even if it's hormonal. Makes me feel like I should lose more weight so the average is where I want to be if that makes sense. It's frustrating, the hormones don't help.3 -

Yeah, and add in some higher sodium/carbs days etc. and that doesn't help either! It can be discouraging, but the other weeks that are lower help to bring me back to the understanding that it's all fluctuations and not "real" weight gain. Still working on focusing on how I look and feel instead of the numbers so much, but it's a process.0 -

How long in maintenance: I hit my goal weight in the beginning of January 2018, but officially started maintenance in mid-March 2018 after figuring out my calories for a couple of months.

Average weight recorded from 2018 (12 months): 109.8
Average weight recorded from January: 111

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Inputting everything in a day early this week, as I'll be away through Tuesday without access to scales. My weight trend is finally going back down again, with one day early in this week being in the low-mid point of my range, where I prefer to be. I'll be pretty active this weekend, but since my weight has recently been at or above the top of my maintenance range lately, my plan is to not eat back any extra exercise calories. Usually, when I'm more active than my TDEE, I'll eat about 2/3-3/4 of the extra exercise calories back. Hopefully, not doing so this weekend will help to bring my weight back to mid-range again.4 -

To me, that isn't true. It is real weight gain. Water has weight, it's in my body, it affects how my clothes fit. It's not FAT gain, but it is weight gain. My weight goes up, clothes fit tighter, etc - there is nothing "not real" about hormonal weight gain.
I'm having a horrible day though so my outlook is more glass half empty. I just got an estimate on needed dental work and it is unattainably expensive. So I'm going to have to pick and choose which parts of my messed up teeth I can pay for and which ones I'll have to live with.8 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: It was a good week. Bumped my cardio up a little bit to give myself more of a challenge on the treadmill, and even made it outside for a run one day as the polar vortex gave way to brief spring-like temperatures. My resistance progress is more uneven, and I'm considering getting a PT for a few sessions to learn free weights and do a more structured program.
I banked up calories this week (though not entirely on purpose,) then blew them last night making and eating homemade ice cream cookie sandwiches with my daughter. It was nice to enjoy that, then get on the scale this morning and see nearly the same number as last week.
Have a great week, everyone!6 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Really in the swing of things again with the workout routine. However, my appetite is now voracious. Will need a little time to acclimate. I’m not too worried yet. Let’s see how next week goes.
In the meantime, almost done my DIY bathroom renovation/restoration. Once that’s finished, I will feel a whole lot better as I will have more time available to study for school and walk the puppies. I also want to see about trying out for a rowing team. I just need to finish this bathroom so I can make time for this other stuff! Almost there!
Pic from today - just need to finish painting, grout and caulk, then decorate:

This will be my first month in maintenance, so I am a bit uneasy. I know how to eat in deficit mode, but not as confident as I move into maintenance. Am planning to pretty much continue doing what I have been doing and add calories back in gradually.

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Weight up but still at the bottom of my declared range. I actually think the increase was that I pulled an all-night shift Friday night and recorded my weight as always Saturday morning on minimal sleep. If I see more increase in the coming weeks, I’ll adjust a little.
I tracked calories and exercised well this week. I do think I can still work on increasing my heart rate with my cardio. Staying slightly under my net each day.

Success/Struggles: It's been a good week. I'm not getting much chance to train on my bike outside because of the rain, but I've been consistent on the trainer, and the one day I did get outside I can tell that it's doing some good. I did have a bottomless pit day this week from the increased training, but my weight is staying pretty steady, and I finally feel back to normal after the holidays and being sick
Wishing everyone a successful upcoming week!9 -

Successes:
Lowest weigh in to date since maintenance. Not sure how that happened but I’ll take it. Blew off yoga last Sunday but rallied and worked in a class on Monday. Stuck with salad with salmon at a restaurant lunch at a literacy convention. I could have easily splurged on something heavier. I’ve also decreased my wine consumption this week (mostly ). Challenges: Had a rough time last Sunday when I learned that my father in law broke his hip and elbow. Despite the fact that the Super Bowl party was cancelled, I still made queso and ate to the point of feeling sick!
Have a great week everyone!9 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: well, seeing it all in black and white could be a bit discouraging, although i think i had a good week. My trend is clearly on the downslope, which is great. Went back to having my breakfast instead of skipping it as i was feeling hungry and low energy without it. Trying to limit the night time snacks a bit. Have been really trying to get 7 hours of sleep at night and get somewhere around 6.30-7 hours most nights according to my fitbit, so that's a big plus for me. Have a great week, everyone!9 -

Just want to give a shout-out to everyone here who shares their weekly progress. I've been following this thread, and previous months, since discovering it. It's a source of inspiration for me. Now, within 4 lbs. of my initial goal weight, I'm approaching the front door of entering this "prestigious" group. However, once my initial goal weight has been achieved, I'm going to wait some more to make sure it wasn't a morning weigh-in fluke. One person here gave me a good suggestion that I may follow. Thanks again, what you share is priceless motivation for me.10

Success of the week: My scale dropped back within my maintenance range after the first two days of the week. My trending weight has stayed in my maintenance range for well over two weeks.
Struggle of the week: I can't even call it a struggle, because it's such a tiny consideration, but I was disappointed when my scale told me I was outside of my maintenance range even just for one day, and then I had a salty couple days and started bouncing back up after closing in on the final FINAL goal weight.9 -

Successes/Struggles: Getting in my daily exercise and holding steady. That is always a win. When it's below freezing, I tend to "hike" around the world with YouTube hiking videos. I often do low-impact aerobic exercises with the videos as I don't have a treadmill/elliptical for equipment...but walking/jogging in place also works just fine. Today, I "hiked" some of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. I prefer to be walking outside when temps are at least above freezing. Have a great week everyone!9 -

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: Hormonal weight fluctuations are finally calming down. Have been tracking again (without perfect compliance) focusing on hitting my protein goal. Midweek I decided to start actually tracking and try to stick to the bottom of my maintenance range, and not flirting with the top.
Starting the last phase of my current lifting program this week, already have my next program lined up, and I am pretty sure what I want to do after that (next one is only 12 weeks! I've been on a 9-10 month one). Fun times.10 -
@Jimb376mfp, congratulations on your golden anniversary and thanks for witnessing the sacrament of marriage until death do you part. I'm ten behind you about to celebrate 41 years of marriage. I've got time on the couch to prove it.5
