Loose skin

Was just wondering what everyone who has lost a good amount of weight has had to handle with loose skin. I myself have lost about 75lbs with as much as 90lbs at most. But even at my lightest I seem to have that last little flab around my bellybutton. My wife has had a tummy tuck and she suggested that route. I see pics of people who were bigger than me and lost more weight and seem to have tighter stomachs.

Loose skin is all about genetics. Toning can help fill in loose skin as well as time for the skin to bounce back.

When did you hit goal weight? My loose skin kept shrinking well into year 2 of maintenance.

IME, in the areas where there's still a bit of subcutaneous fat under the skin, that fat conspires with gravity to keep the skin stretched. Those would be areas with thicker folds or rolls, like 1/2" or more. To lose that, I think I'd need to lose more weight than would be sensible, undertake recomposition (too lazy ;) ), or go for the surgery (nope).

The areas where there was just loose skin, thinner wrinkles like in a medium-weight fabric, those slowly shrank pretty well over time.

This was losing around 50 pounds, nearly a third of my body weight, at age 59-60.

Genetics is part of it. Age, amount of weight lost, and how quickly the weight was gained/lost also are factors.
