I sacrifice the time I used to spend eating out for eating at home. It's a struggle but someone has to do it.

I believe the Keto diet advisers sometimes mislead people. I’ve concluded that my end of the day treat of 4-6ounces of red wine is causing me to not lose weight faster on Keto. Granted there are no carbs BUT the wine turning to sugar once in the system, stalls the fat burning system. I’ve lost some pounds but it’s been very slow ...which is atypical of Keto so I’ve been told. I have been super conscientious about what I eat and I exercise 3-4 times a week and moving up to 5x once my schedule cooperates. So, just my two cents on alcohol and Keto. I guess it depends on how fast you want to lose but my aim is a lot faster! Summer is around the corner!!!
Hi @Rougey38 - I’m also on keto - a glass of red wine typically has approx 5 carbs. Perhaps this is taking you over your macro limit...
Good luck on your progress! 🍀

Not everyone’s system is the same. You have to factor in other health issues and medications that contribute to metabolism/weight loss. I need to lose 40 pounds. Since February have lost 8 1/2. Not fast enough for me! So, I am going to eliminate the wine for two weeks and I’ll let you know how my scale responds. Have a good day everyone.
you will lose weight as you will be reducing your calories by not drinking wine...

Nooooo that's woo! I didn't lose when I didn't drink wine! (It had nothing to do with all those fun sized snickers and milky ways and never counting calories, I'm sure )4 -

Edited to add: Not in a gross, online stalkery way.
Reedited to add: I don't really love you more than chocolate. I'm not THAT crazy!1 -

Excuse you, I'm the gross/creepy stalker in this relationship!
But really, I'm glad you chose chocolate over me. Chocolate should always come first.

Food scale > teaspoons.
It's not essential to use a food scale to lose weight by calorie counting . . . but it can be an eye-opener for those who aren't losing as fast as they think they should be.
8.5 pounds since February is fast loss for someone with only 40 to lose. Fast loss, anecdotally, seems to involve more water weight weirdness and fluctuations (probably via stress responses), so more chance of pseudo-stalls.9 -

What’s with the eagerness to criticize, make someone feel badly and judge? That’s not helpful to someone who asked a simple question and was trying to figure out an issue. I thought we were all in this together as a weight loss team. After reading some comments I am perplexed about why the finger pointing and talking to me like I’m a dummy. For example, accusing me of plagiarism is a totally unnecessary comment. I simply forgot to site the website, which is, btw, “ruledme.com”. Why the heck don’t you simply ask before throwing around an insult? I will talk to my doctor about the issue of alcohol and Keto. In the meantime I appreciate the thoughtful comments and .... the happy news is I’m suddenly down three more pounds today. I wish everyone well in their health and wellness. Best!11

@Rougey38 I want to respond to your last post before I bow out. Noone is trying to make you feel bad or judge you. Many of us have been here for a while and successfully lost and kept weight off. If you post in a forum, we will respond and be as helpful as we can which is what we did. We are trying to help you and let you know that the key to losing and keeping off the weight is CICO, not whether you are in ketosis or tracking your weight watchers points or eating a Mediterranean diet or drinking wine. It really is quite liberating to find out that you will still lose weight without following a bunch of crazy rules on what to eat and when. Just eat less than you burn. If that glass of wine is the magic calorie that tips the scales in your favor then that is great.
You didn't ask a question, ever, in any of your posts that I can see. You did make many sweeping claims and told us the case was closed when it surely was not. I did ask who you were quoting. You didn't respond until now. Someone else found where the quote came from and posted it. You quoted a broscience internet guru website that has no scientific proof of validity and failed to give credit to the original author. That by definition is plaigerism. It wasn't meant to be insulting, just truthful.
Congratulations on losing three more pounds of water weight. I wish you nothing but success.19 -

Ya, when I quit drinking I picked up an M&M habit.
I've never been to an AA meeting without Oreos or donuts or the like. (Although I hear that snack-free meetings have since become a thing. Not sure how popular a thing they are though.)3 -

Alcohol contains some sugar, some just contain higher amounts then others. So in theory if you are not factoring in these carbs, it may kick you out of ketosis. With that being said, If you must drink alcohol (I don't recommend it daily), stick with a small glass of wine and/or clear liquor like vodka. I know plenty of people who are keto and enjoy a drink or two once in a while.
I do have to ask, are you testing your blood??? I know a lot of people on here claiming to be keto, but i'm willing to bet a good 75-80% of them never test their blood glucose and blood ketones.6 -

It's almost like weight loss isn't linear, and the wine had nothing to do with it...13 -

Sounds like 75 to 80 percent know spending money on the tests is a waste. Ketosis is not the goal unless you have a medical condition that requires it as a treatment. Weight loss is the goal. You test weight loss with a bathroom scale, a measuring tape, how your clothes fit, etc.9 -

For accuracy's sake, alcohol is created by fermenting the sugars in a given liquid. In some liquors or wines there is residual sugar which is what makes a wine dry or fruity. Some liquors are made with added sugar after fermentation and distilling. But no, alcohol does not contain sugar. If it did, it wouldn't be alcohol.
ETA: And clear liquors do not contain less sugar than others. For example Bourbon, one of my personal favs, contains no residual sugar.6
