Is it ok to eat chocolate as long as it fits in your macros??

So today I had chocolate it’s worth 200 calories. Maybe bit too much. But this still fit in my cals and macros? Is this alright? My daily goal is 1400 calories.

Yes. for weight loss it's strictly calories in calories out. I eat chocolate 1-2x a day DAILY. and still lost 50lbs even the last typically difficult 5lbs. I ensure I am diligent about using my food scale and logging accurately and staying in my calorie deficit most (95%) of days.

For overall health and satiety a balance is good :) but obviously you are not eating only chocolate all day ;) once you hit your macros and overall nutrition there are no bonus points for extra broccoli and spiniach.

Wow congrats!!!!! Your success gave me more hope. Thanks!

It's not about not eating foods that are considered "unhealthy." It's about having an overall balanced diet. If it fits in your cals and macros, your diet is still in balance.

    Yay!!!!

Even if it were possible for sugar to magically change the laws of physics and affect weight loss - which it isn't - chocolate is mostly fat :)

Calories are what matter for weight management...not any one particular food. Obviously one would want to maintain a good nutritional profile, but there's nothing wrong with having treats either...it's not like they wipe out the broccoli you ate or whatever.

Sugar in and of itself isn't "bad"...over-consumption of sugar is another matter. There's a big difference between having a little chocolate and gulping down multiple 40oz Big Gulps daily.

For optimum benefits make your chocolate (which I too have every night) 70% or higher dark chocolate or even with almonds. 70% doesn't have the bitter taste, but has a lot less sugar. I sometimes (if I have room in calories/macros-top it with 1 tbsp peanut butter).

I like dark chocolate best, but it really doesn't matter if it fits in her calories and her diet as a whole is overall nutritious (for health).

Comparing the same size of four different chocolates from the same maker:

    88% (my personal favorite because of taste): 180 cal, 10 g sat fat, 3 g protein, 4 g sugar.

    70% has 160 cal, 8 g sat fat, 9 g sugar, 2 g protein.

    milk chocolate (plain) has 160 cal, 6 g sat fat, 16 g sugar, 2 g protein

toffee and almonds in milk chocolate has 160 cal, 6 g sat fat, 15 g sugar, 2 g protein.

Over the course of a whole day, those differences really should not matter.

I don't eat chocolate daily because I don't want it every day, but you certainly could.
