So today I had chocolate it’s worth 200 calories. Maybe bit too much. But this still fit in my cals and macros? Is this alright? My daily goal is 1400 calories.

Yes. It's fine. What makes you think it wouldn't be?
I have chocolate or ice cream every night.17 -
Why on earth would it not be?7

It doesn't have to fit in your macros it just has to fit in your calories.
It is absolutely fine. I hope you enjoyed it!12 -

Yes. for weight loss it's strictly calories in calories out. I eat chocolate 1-2x a day DAILY. and still lost 50lbs even the last typically difficult 5lbs. I ensure I am diligent about using my food scale and logging accurately and staying in my calorie deficit most (95%) of days.
For overall health and satiety a balance is good but obviously you are not eating only chocolate all day once you hit your macros and overall nutrition there are no bonus points for extra broccoli and spiniach.8 -

It's not about not eating foods that are considered "unhealthy." It's about having an overall balanced diet. If it fits in your cals and macros, your diet is still in balance.10 -

No need to live without chocolate, or anything for that matter. Everything in moderation.7 -

Cause people say like sugar is bad and stuff so I thought eating chocolate will effect progress.3 -

Every given year a new food is bad. sugar. carbs. eggs. there are no bad foods unless you have allergies/intolerance. Everything in moderation. Best to ignore fads and anything that is hyped.
Also, i prefer to lose weight eating mostly foods i'll eat in maintenance. because you need to learn to eat normally at some point.13 -
Based on your other post about sugar, it seems like you are buying into a lot of common "value judgements" about specific foods. There really are no good or bad foods. Eat what you want and enjoy as long as it fits within your goals. It doesn't need to be any more complicated than that.8

Even if it were possible for sugar to magically change the laws of physics and affect weight loss - which it isn't - chocolate is mostly fat3 -
I too had to relearn the foods are not inherently good or bad--they are all just food with varying amounts of nutrients and calories. If it fits it works!

I get where you're coming from with the sugar. I demonised it for years after reading only bad stuff about it. I was convinced that I was addicted to sweet foods because once I started eating foods like that (especially sugar fat mixed... Cake !) I couldn't stop.
Totally agree with an earlier post about eating foods you want to maintain your weight at.
I'm new to calorie counting but tell myself every day.. I can eat anything.. As long as it fits in my calorie allowance.

If I could not fit in my treats I would have failed a long time ago.5

Calories are what matter for weight management...not any one particular food. Obviously one would want to maintain a good nutritional profile, but there's nothing wrong with having treats either...it's not like they wipe out the broccoli you ate or whatever.Femilaxx1xo wrote: »Femilaxx1xo wrote: »quiksylver296 wrote: »Yes. Sugar in and of itself isn't "bad"...over-consumption of sugar is another matter. There's a big difference between having a little chocolate and gulping down multiple 40oz Big Gulps daily.4 -
For optimum benefits make your chocolate (which I too have every night) 70% or higher dark chocolate or even with almonds. 70% doesn't have the bitter taste, but has a lot less sugar. I sometimes (if I have room in calories/macros-top it with 1 tbsp peanut butter).11

look at my diary for monday through wednesday. I've had wine everyday. If it fits, eat it3

I like dark chocolate best, but it really doesn't matter if it fits in her calories and her diet as a whole is overall nutritious (for health).
Comparing the same size of four different chocolates from the same maker:
88% (my personal favorite because of taste): 180 cal, 10 g sat fat, 3 g protein, 4 g sugar.
70% has 160 cal, 8 g sat fat, 9 g sugar, 2 g protein.
milk chocolate (plain) has 160 cal, 6 g sat fat, 16 g sugar, 2 g protein
toffee and almonds in milk chocolate has 160 cal, 6 g sat fat, 15 g sugar, 2 g protein.
Over the course of a whole day, those differences really should not matter.
I don't eat chocolate daily because I don't want it every day, but you certainly could.2
