I Haven't Eaten Anything Today

I feel like I'm dying. I'm shaking all over, I have no energy or strength. I feel nauseous.
People who fast/do OMAD on purpose... how do you survive? 0_o
I'm definitely not doing this on purpose, I just literally haven't been able to find time for breakfast and lunch. After tomorrow things will go back to normal more or less.

People have different tolerances. Sounds like you're not a good candidate for OMAD or the more restrictive versions of IF. I don't practice either but have gone extended periods without food (up to 24 hours) without any ill effects.1
-
Interestingly you found enough time to post about it, though?27
-
Why are you posting on an Internet forum instead of going to get some food?13

Not sure why taking a few seconds to make a forum post leads you to think I have time to find food. Not really equivalent demands. That's like saying you have time to check the net so you have time to read a whole book.
I'm at work. I can take a 5 minute bathroom break and use my phone. That's it.12 -
Vending machine. Call for delivery. Ask someone to bring you food. I can’t imagine your supervisor is going to be okay with you passing out due to low blood sugar, which sounds like a real possibility given the symptoms you describe.
And in the future, keep a snack in your bag/desk/car/pocket so this situation doesn’t happen again. Prep and pack meals ahead of time. Plan ahead instead of putting your health at risk.17 -
You will be fine. Nobody out their health at risk from not eating for one day.13
-
I can't skip meals either anymore,I get super bad blood sugar crashes dizziness,nausea,etc0

While driving, my uncle blacked out from low blood sugar due to fasting. He had not previously been diagnosed with any medical conditions related to blood sugar. The car went under a tractor trailer and both he and his wife were killed.23 -
Lol I’m probably gonna get blasted, but people usually have a hard time in the beginning of any IF schedule. Most folks start with 12:12 which is pretty easy if you don’t snack at night, (you sleep through 7-8hrs of it) and just delay breakfast. Then they move up and find they can move the eating time up and hour or two. It’s just a matter of finding out if you’re really hungry or not, most the time I’m not hungry and I’m just bored or pissed off or something. At this moment I’m on hour 24 of a planned 48 hr fast and I’m not even remotely hungry. But of course, this really isn’t for everyone, it’s just a choice I make for myself.3

Oh no, poor you. I don't know how companies can get away with not allowing food breaks for their staff in this day and age.

Do you work somewhere where you're not allowed to have any food at all with you even in a backpack or something?
I find that protein shakes and a sliced bread sandwich (cut in half) is pretty easy to eat while working. Takes about 3 minutes to eat half of a sandwich.2 -
Sorry, I should clarify. It's not that I'm not allowed breaks, today was just uniquely nuts and I realized later on all I'd had was a coffee my coworker brought me and the milk I had in the morning. I didn't even think about food until near the end of the day... when I finally relaxed enough to realize how *kitten* I felt.
As I sat there trembling and feeling like hell, I was just wondering how people who fast actually even survive. But I guess it makes sense that some people just aren't cut out for it.
I never snack, so I don't have any to bring. Tomorrow I know will be worse so I'll try to at least eat breakfast.5 -

Find a bar or snack mix you like and keep some in your desk at work (or stashed in your purse). I like Clif Builder Bars. Tasty and can do for lunch in a pinch.0 -
I bring protein bars and shakes to work and also some fruit. I'm never without food. Shrugs.0
-
I understand how that can easily happen and I work from home. It used to happen to me pretty regularly when I was gaining weight because I would then eat too much trying to compensate for how crap I felt.1
-
It would be curious to know how your day ended in the eating department given your work starvation episode.3

The food you bring doesn’t have to be marketed as a “snack food.” Bring leftovers. Dry cereal. A sandwich. Fruit. A protein shake. Anything that you like and that you’re able to eat.0 -
Its not so much bringing the food in, in my job sometimes I dont get the time to nip to the loo. I have sat there before with food in my bag to eat but dont get time to eat it. Some of us have jobs where its just too busy and people want a piece of you all the time.0

I'm sorry but I work in a high-stress, face paced field and I've never heard of anyone not having time to eat at least a granola bar or an apple over the course of a day. Totally makes no sense. You have to prioritize, plain and simple. You can chew while typing out an email, can't you??5

This. Thankfully I usually do have time for a quick break, but if not, I would simply shovel in a banana during work if I'd had to.
I definitely wouldn't be able to do OMAD anyway! Need to eat at least every 3/4 hours max or I'll go dizzy.1 -
If you want to avoid it in the future, consider keeping some protein bars around. They work in a pinch. I'll grab one if I have to leave for the airport before 5 am. I also have some similar items at my office -- I moved my office recently and when I was cleaning out my desk I had all these bars I'd bought to try and forgotten about -- guess they didn't really appeal.
But I'm someone who doesn't really find skipping breakfast/lunch that big a deal. I'll feel hungry (more if I'm not crazy busy, if I'm crazy busy I tend to forget about it). I've done full day fasts and certainly missed food, especially at dinner time, but I had no physical symptoms at all beyond feeling hungry.0 -

I manage teams of contractors/freelancers in the Ukraine, India, and US, plus I have coworkers. People want a piece of me all day long, including before and after my regular work hours. I take care of my needs by practicing good boundaries.
My latest boundary is to shut off my work IM notifications during my lunch break (which I make sure to take) - ah, bliss! There is nothing so urgent that can't wait til I get back.
I'd be getting notification on my phone in the middle of the night, but ever since I got a cell I've shut it off when I go to bed, and charge it in a room other than my bedroom.3 -

I do not work in a high stress, fast paced job. The opposite, I'm usually bored. If I did work in a fast paced job, I'd be prepared. I don't so I was unprepared.
I surely had time to eat an apple, but where do you suggest I get an apple from if I don't have one, and also lack a time machine with which to forewarn myself to have one?
Anyways I ended up eating very little yesterday for various reasons so tonight I'm going to spoil myself. Sushi maybe.2 -
Wow, OP, you opened a can of worms LOL! I completely understand, I've had my plans completely changed for me before, getting sent to a jobsite well away from "civilization" and not having packed a lunch. Or working outside when the temps are triple digits and I'm walking next to an asphalt laydown machine, lunch is out of the question and those guys work from sunup to sundown. *kitten* happens, I understand your original point, fasting and OMAD is definitely not for everyone!5

Sometimes I can be sent somewhere miles and miles away, sent to court urgently, which can then last the rest of the day, sent to pick up children urgently, meetings overun and then run into each other, then I have to get out to the next visit or appointment and so on and so on. Lucky the people that can just choose to turn things off or have time in front of an email.2

I'm with the others who suggested having a protein bar or whatever you want to eat stash. Is there a reason you can't carry around something portable just in case you have another day like yesterday? Your body's reaction to not eating for so long is NOT a good thing.
And your time machine is what happened yesterday. Shove a couple items of shelf stable food in your drawer or purse and car for the future.3 -

Right. Because if you did have a time machine you could go back and change your original post since in it you said you HAD LITERALLY NO TIME TO EAT. LOL.
Whatever. Enjoy your sushi3 -
When I have caffeine and don't eat, it makes me even more shaky. Just a thought, since you had coffee but no food.1

I've nearly blacked out behind the wheel after a 12 hour shift without food. Was working emergency, didn't have time to eat even if I had remembered that I needed to - and I'm healthy, have no issues with blood sugar, normally. It can definitely happen.
Have always kept food in my locker since then, that was too scary!0 -

Yes. I had no time to go get food. Therefore no time to eat.
