Plant power fast food nutritional guide?

Hey, I had a log in of 860 days, but due to a stay in the hospital, I'm getting a clean slate. Doctor's are telling me to make some drastic changes to my diet. Cut most carbs, sugars, etc. Talking with them, I'm trying Keto. Help get my weight back down and blood pressure too. In constant hypertension. But, enough about all that.

To those of you that live in SoCal (southern California) have you been to plant power fast food? It's a vegan fast food joint. We have one here in Redlands and it's pretty darn awesome. Not too pricey either. Only issue is I have no idea how many cals, carbs, etc are in it. Tried looking for a guide online but no luck. I also asked if they had a guide when we ordered. Again, no go. Anyone have any idea where to look? Thanks.

ETA
Just called a different location to ask. The lady told me for a calorie count to be online they have to have four more locations. So I'm SOL on that count.

Can any vegan members give me a hand with how to figure out calories so I can put something down? Again Thanks

Are you going to list what you ate?

Use the database to find foods that seem close to what you ate. Estimate high for all restaurant food.

I had the buffalo 66 chicken wrap, a salad, ranch, and lemonade. All vegan. I tried to log other vegan items so hopefully I was close

I would use database entries for similar items at Veggie Grill or Native Foods.

A food being vegan doesn’t mean anything for its calorie count; vegan items can easily have the same number or even more calories as their non-vegan counterparts. Vegan items may have some different macro/micro nutrient counts, however.

I'm a little confused. Do you always eat vegan or are you inquiring about a rarer meal? Are you going to be doing Vegan Keto? If so, please come back in a few months and let us know how that went.

Many people start threads here on the main boards inquiring about vegan keto but I've yet to hear from anyone doing it long term as it is so restrictive and these diametrically opposite ways of eating are an unnecessary combination to lose weight.

Many people's health markers are improved simply by losing weight, so if you are indeed doing vegan keto and struggling, discuss this with your medical team and ask for a referral to a dietitian.

If none of this applies to you it might still help someone else :)

I was confused too. The OP intends to go keto but is eating food at a vegan restaurant that is almost assuredly high carb and may be high calorie. Of course some people think that vegan food checks off all the boxes and it absolutely does not.

I'm glad that I wasn't the only one confused by this.

OP can you please clarify? Have you actually started Keto? Because as someone who does Keto, I can tell you, that meal would not be Keto. Even just a small Lemonade is probably around 25g of carbs which is more than a lot of Keto folks eat in an entire day.

If you truly are looking to try a Ketogenic Diet, I would highly recommend doing your research. I'd start online with folks like Diane Sanfilippo, Mark Sisson, Leanne Vogel, and Jimmy Moore. Maria Emmerich has some great information as well as her husband Craig Emmerich. I'd also check out the Keto group her on MFP, a lot of very knowledgeable people over there who would be more than happy to help you navigate through the beginning stages.

So if you are checking out a vegan restaurant why not go plant based and eat foods that are health promoting (fruits, vegetables, beans and grains). Chances are if you are making these the priority in your diet and avoiding high sodium, high saturated fat foods you will lose weight and get your blood pressure under control.

It doesn't sound like your doctor is recommending keto. Lowering carbs and restricting sugar often results in weight loss if the carb/sugar calories cut aren't replaced by something else, and weight loss often results in remission of the symptoms you describe. You might want to clarify what the goal is for the recommendation, since I don't see where high fat was recommended, which is an inherent characteristic of a keto diet. From what you've told us, I think you may be adding more restriction than your doctor intended (especially if you are vegetarian/vegan, can't tell from your OP).

no, I'm no vegan, it was just a new place that we went into. First time I've had vegan food and since they didn't have a calorie count chart, I was wondering how vegan member log.

as for the keto plan, it was the best option my doctors came up with. I'm on day 2 and doing ok. looking up some info on carbs that Ill post later to help others.

I think it threw people for a loop because on keto you really have to limit your veggies and fruit, since they're also carbs, and going vegan seems to rely heavily on a lot of veggies/fruits. Which is why vegan keto doesn't seem to work very well.
