What makes them bad?18

i don’t. nothing bad about them.
i eat at a calorie deficit over time for weight loss. no deamonizing food. i eat food i like that keeps me full.10 -
I eat them, that'll teach'em.34

I ate @ 200g of carbs per day when I was losing (and still do now in maintenance), but if for some reason you want to eat lower carb, I'd think your best bet is to build your meals around a protein, fats, and lower carb veggies. Whether you can include any traditional carbs would depend on how low you're trying to go.
Just know you don't have to avoid carbs to lose weight. Calories determine weight loss, macros can affect satiety, but different foods and macros satiate different people. Obviously if you have a medical reason to avoid carbs, that's a different story.17 -
Today I almost seriously considered having two french rolls as dinner, so that should tell you all you need to know. They're not bad and I don't stay away from them (though I do try to eat a more nutritionally complete meal than bread most days)7

Why in the world would I try to get away from them?
Some of my favorite foods have carbs: Fruits, beans and other legumes, kefir, milk, oatmeal, ice cream, and more. I'm at 234g of them so far today, have hit my protein/fat minimums, and still have calories left. I admit I "only" ate about 150g or so most days while losing weight from obese to healthy, but it's usually 200g+ now (year 3 of maintaining a healthy weight).
Carbs are not the devil. Excess calories might be . . . are, if we're trying to identify the culprit that causes weight gain.15 -
Do you have a medical reason for controlling carbs?8

I suppose you can get away from carbs but I don't know why you would. They aren't bad boys. Bad boys are boys that do the wrong thing, which causes harm to themselves and others. Carbs are merely a macro group which gives your body wonderful energy to do these amazing things.16 -

Exactly this. I'll point out that vegetables are mostly carbs too.
OP, if the issue is insufficient protein, then increase protein portions and decrease carb portions.
If it's craving specific foods that have carbs (and usually also fat) and are low in micronutrients, sure, that can be an issue for some, but it's not just about carbs. (And many carbs, like potatoes, pasta, even whole grains and legumes and fruit, have been oddly demonized these days.)10 -

Have you tried shaking your first and then crying whenever somebody has a bagel?17 -
No reason to get away from them. Like all other foods I enjoy, moderation and maintaining a calorie deficit for losing weight. Barring no medical issues, the only thing bad for weight loss, is consuming more calories than your body burns.5

When I decided to decrease my carb intake I started slowly and gradually reduced the amount I was eating over the course of a few months. The experience has been amazing and I'll never go back to a high carb woe. But, it's not something I'd force-if it's something you want to try then start slow and see where the process takes you.10

I have to stay away from carbs as they start my binging9

I like to look at what I want to get more of in my diet (protein, veggies, fat, iron, etc) and that naturally tends to keep carbs around where I want them. I don't actively avoid carbs because that stresses me out. It comes to the same result in the end, but the mindset shift helped me. Your mileage may vary, of course13

I was going to try keto but didn't because I love my carbs.7

Carbs are delicious. I aim to eat carbs with some decent nutrients lumped into them, but I still had pizza and donuts today and stayed within my calorie goals. I've just gotten better at moderating them--I had two slices instead of the 5 I used to do once upon a time. Ate a bunch of fruit instead of lots of biscuits that were laid out at the event I was at. In the afternoon, split 2 mini donuts with my husband. Had a nice balanced dinner of chicken, pomegranate, walnut, spinach, potato bread, goat cheese. Still have room for some fruit and yoghurt later if I want it.6

I am currently eating 1lb of strawberries. 160 calories with 35grams of carbs. Are strawberries bad? Can you eat a lb of strawberries in one sitting? Just asking...🤔9

Nothing is wrong with complex carbs but simple processed carbs should be limited if you’re actively trying to get fit and healthy24

Fruit is simple carbs.
I am currently consuming a smoothie that contains (as well as a good amount of vegetables and some sources of protein and fat) strawberries (if I had fresh I'd be eating them plain, but the ones in my garden are far from ripe, so frozen) and half a banana. So processed simple carbs. Oh, well. For me it hits the spot as a post run breakfast.8 -

You have to limit them in the sense that they and everything ride you eat needs to come in at your calorie goal, if you're trying to lose weight. If you're trying to get fit, carbs are fires for high intensity exercise.4
