Luckily you don't need to diet to lose weight. All you have to do is eat at a calorie deficit. Please go read the stickied posts at the top of this forum. They are very helpful. Good luck!11

Diets (in that meaning of the word) are temporary. While the losing weight phase might be temporary, maintenance is forever. I chose not to do anything I wasn't willing to keep up after I reached my goal weight.

Yep. What bjk said.
Eat the foods you like in the portions that will keep you within your calories. It's that simple.
I'd suggest start logging your foods every day and study your Food page to understand where you can cut back and make changes. It's a process.

Fill out the food diary truthfully. Eat the foods you like so you can make your journey enjoyable and sustainable. Just stay in a calorie deficit. ☺5

The sexypants thread is excellent.
This is a complementary eating plan, in which you eat foods you enjoy:

It's how I lost about 50 pounds, obese to healthy weight, at age 59-60 (while hypothyroid), in under a year, and have stayed at a healthy weight for 3 years since.
Best wishes!4 -
I eat what I like - but less of it (ie smaller portions) than I did before. It means I'm not restricting myself, I like the food, I'm losing weight and it's sustainable. I've lost 11kg, which I think is about 25lbs and am very close to my goal weight.1
