Keto

Hi, I'm new to Keto. I've decided to give it a try as I keep hearing how people I know lost 50, 90+ pounds in like 3 months. Is that possible?

You can drop a lot of water weight initially on Keto, but fat loss is pretty equivalent to any other way of eating.
90 pounds in 3 months seems pretty unlikely unless they were on a VLCD, which unless supervised a doctor is very risky and unhealthy.
The reason some people have success with Keto is because it helps them stick to a calorie deficit, they find fat more satiating, this is not the same for everyone though.
A healthy rate of loss is about 1-2lbs per week unless you're in a healthy weight range (then closer to 0.5lbs per week) or are extremely obese (usually 1% of bodyweight max and doctor supervised). Losing faster is not necessarily better, losing too quickly can mean losing muscle along with the fat and can also lead to a whole host of health problems - brittle nails, hair loss, hormone imbalances, gall bladder issues, etc.
So I would encourage you to do some proper research on Keto (there are things to consider about getting adequate electrolytes, etc) before committing to doing it. Just because it worked for someone else doesn't automatically mean it will work for you, other people find higher protein or higher carbs more satiating. So by all means give it a try, but don't be discouraged from weight loss if it's not for you.2 -
Welcome.
Beware any "named diet" that makes super promises. Some people may have acheived that but it does not mean it was healthy or appropriate. And everyone's mileage will vary. It also depends how much they had to lose, the more obese one is the more they can lose quickly and still be somewhat safer.
Weight loss comes from eating at a calorie deficit regularly over a long period of time. What you eat and what time you eat only matters in how it helps one acheive and maintain that calorie deficit over a long period of time. Some find low carb (or Keto's SUPER low carb) helps them stay full. Some to the point they don't really even need to count/log calories. Those are few i suspect, most still need to weight and log calories to ensure they are in a deficit. But they stlil find very low carb more satiating.
Others need carbs to feel full and stick to a way of eating.

I highly recommend the groups on here "Keto" and "Low Carber Daily Forum."
Active discussions full of tips, advice, recipes, and results from others eating keto.
Been eating keto for about a month, and the results are amazing. Energy boosts, never hungry, dropping inches, and feeling better than I've felt in years.
Good luck!
