Decrease or eliminate caffeine. Work out earlier in day. Create a bed time routine, consider adding gentle yoga or meditation. Limit screen time before bedtime. Research a good melatonin supplement.
Just a few ideas3 -
If you create a routine, your body eventually gives in to it.
No electronics before bed. I read once in bed. Within a half hour, I'm ready for lights out.
Sleep in a cool room. I set the a/c to 66.
No food or drink a few hours before bed. Of course, I do take my evening pills with water.1 -

I like to visit a few websites and watch a few videos before going to bed. Usually it knocks me out pretty quick.
But you can also try melatonin 🤷♀️4 -
I don't know what that is...1

Magnesium allegedly helps. And valerian root and chamomile and a whole host of other untasty bushes and shrubs4

Melatonin is a natural hormone in our body that helps us sleep. If you need an extra push, you can take it in supplement form.0

Likewise.
Here are the things I've implemented:
blackout shades to eliminate all light
white noise (air cleaner) and pink noise (rain falling) to eliminate outside noise
no caffeine whatsoever
regular sleep/wake times
screen free hour before bed (no TV in bedroom)
no exercise before bed
to no avail, but all are recommended "sleep hygiene" practices. Melatonin proved useless, even at 6X the regular dose.0 -

Oh! I know this one!2

I don’t know what that is anymore. I’m always tired. Melatonin has worked for me but I have the worst nightmares on it.1

Exercise early in the day, make sure carbs are ok, and have the room temp at 71 or lower; real difficulties falling asleep if any of those are not satisfied! I usually read before drifting off or watch stupid TV to turn off brain.0

I have had luck with over the counter melatonin from the vitamin isle. Funky dreams though0

I normally get into bed about 30 minutes before I need to sleep and just watch something I've already seen 100 times before. That helps loads. I need background noise anyway, so putting on episodes of Futurama sends me off fairly quickly.1

Restavit...if I’m doing shift work but it’s a risk for dependence . Don’t eat anything about 3 hours before bedtime.0

If I go really long without sleep (>24 hours) I usually have really vivid and weird dreams when I do get the sleep I need. It must be some deep level of REM stage sleep that makes it happen. You’ll crash eventually man.1 -

And like have you smelled Valerian root? That'll knock you out.
Thats what my parents always used to get me to sleep as a kid. That stuff smells just like chloroform4
