I can't imagine how they could possibly help.11

Success in what way? Are you thinking that they have some sort of ‘powers’?
As far as I know they’re just decorative glass beads on a wire, much like a bracelet for your waist.3 -
ya you wont get anything but a pretty accessory. Not sure what you think they will help with2

I believe the idea of the waist bead was used to let women (or men I suppose) know they were gaining weight cause it wouldn’t fit around them anymore.
As scales are now commonplace within our homes I am not sure you will need them like they did.
There is no evidence to suggest having the beads cause you to lose weight either so I think best not to waste your money.

If you want to wear them for because you like them, because some of them are beautiful, or because they make you feel good, then you should have them. They are not a magic bean that will help with a successful weight loss or fitness plan. However, I can't imagine how they could possibly hurt and I see how they could be used as helpful tool, so long as you realize the work is still up to you.2

I've never heard of them. 😞5

Well I have one of those belly dancing scarfs that has lots of jingley things on it and it has helped strengthen my abs and obs.
Oh wait, no it hasn’t, its that it makes me laugh during my belly dancing class, encouraging me to go. The work I put in in the class is what has improved my abs and obs. (As well as strengthening my pelvic floor so I don’t pee when I laugh in the class)
The beads won’t help unless they encourage you to eat at a deficit, and work out if you wish.
Cheers, h.16 -
As a monitor of changes in waist size, fine. If they make you feel good, fine. But to lose weight you still need a calorie deficit. They also don't help spot reduction either.4

From a quick Google search, it looks like they have different meanings in different African cultures. So, I would say that if you are part of such a culture and choose to wear them as a reflection of that, then they’d be “successful.”
For weight control, I don’t know what one would expect them to do. You can tell that your pants are getting tight just as easily as you can tell that beads around your waist are getting tight.6 -
not gonna lie i kinda wanna go buy some now that iv seen this thread, Not because they will do anything for me but they are kind of cute lol. I force myself loose skin and all to wear crop tops sometimes to keep myself accountable and work on my confidence. I cant quite decide if the pretty beads will draw attention to them vs the skin under, or more attention to my stomach in general xD
Though, I imagine if your buying them to help you lose weight your not intending to wear them with a crop top. In which case youd just be bumpy under your shirt with no real benefit2 -
Can someone post a photo so I don't get all the targeted shake and pill ads in my social feeds again from searching?5

waist beads
well... I'll get all the adds now, but I had to Google it to know what was being talked about!
They're pretty!
But that's about it.3 -
I was concerned that waist was really waste misspelled. I am relieved.
If it does not cause you financial hardship to buy some I don't see a problem. Weight loss is driven by a calorie deficit so you would have to determine if this is a tool that will assist you.2 -
In Senegal waist beads are worn by women to attract men through the light jingling noise they make when walking. Yes they are successful if that’s what you’re looking for!0
