Tired of the yo-yo & desperate

I'm hoping to meet some local people to workout with & for accountability purposes, I am in the Winfield, IL area.
I'm on the verge of turning 40 and I'm so tired of gaining & losing the same weight. I am currently the heaviest I have ever been, weighing in at 197.5 this morning. For the last 12 months I've tried everything, (keto 3 months = 12lb gain, 21 day fix = 5lb gain, liquid diet, fasting) NOTHING has worked. The harder I try the more I weigh. When I started 12 months ago I was 171. 3 years ago I was at 150 after working for 2 years to lose 36lbs. Yep, you read that right:
August
2014: 186
2015: 167
2016: 150
2017: 168
2018: 171
2019: 197
I'm convinced at this point if I look at food, I will gain weight. I workout 4 to 6 times a week for 60 min or more, I change it up between cardio and weights regularly. I hike or bike on the weekends for fun. I even go line dancing for extra cardio & for FUN!
I'm hoping that MFP will help me keep a true accounting of my foods so I can see where I'm messing up because even logging everything with 21 day fix didn't help. I know it's not my lifestyle that's packing on the pounds but I just cannot figure out what it is. I'm open to suggestions, tips, help, or maybe a swift knock every now & then to keep me on track.
Thanks,
Meg

Welcome to the community!
If you haven't already, read the stickies at the top of the getting started forum. Very informative and helpful.
Good luck with your journey!2 -
You only lose weight if you eat less calories than you burn. Keto and all those other diets only work if they successfully trick you into eating less calories. If you're eating too much you will gain.
Get a kitchen food scale. Weigh EVERYTHING. Every oil, condiment, liquid, every mouthful. Log everything. Eat the amount of calories that MFP tells you.
Weight loss is 80% diet. You can't outrun, outhike, outdance or outgym the fork.
And have patience. Weight loss is measured in months, not days, and scale fluctuations are common and normal. You were never gonna fix anything in 21 days.1 -

IMHO, most yo-yoers try to do too much all at once, and tend to try to force themselves to eat the way they think they are supposed to. Fat loss is all about the calorie deficit, and figuring out a way to eat and an activity level that is practical and enjoyable for you, and that will make it as easy as possible to eat at the right calorie level for the rest of your life, is the holy grail. Logging accurately and consistently, noting your satiety and energy levels, and then learning as you go can really help. Good luck!1 -
Hi, would you like to try a bit of fasting? I'm looking for a fasting buddy maybe it could help kickstart and reset a bit0

Actually, if someone is prone to yo-yo dieting, looking for a "kickstart" is probably not a good strategy. The constant swing between "do something really tough for a fast start" and "willpower depleted - quit" is most likely the cause in the first place.
You don't need a kickstart, you just need to start eating a few less calories than you burn and patience3 -
