Best time for dessert?

If eating sugar makes you hungry faster wouldn’t the best time to eat desert be after lunch? That way for dinner you can eat something that’s not sugary and you won’t be that hungry when youre trying to sleep?

For me - after dinner.
My lunch is usually at work or on the go and more rushed and i enjoy relaxing with desert in the evening after tea in front of the tellie - if I have enough calories left in the day.
Although on my non working days, have been known to go out for coffee and cake at various times of day.
ETA it does not make me more hungry.1 -

The entire question is based on a false premise. Sugar does not necessarily make people hungry faster. If sugar makes you, personally, feel hungry faster, then you should schedule your meals accordingly.4

I prefer dessert after dinner so that I can make sure I have enough macros left for it.
That said, I don’t know that sugar necessarily makes me hungry, but certain types of desserts DO make me crave more of them, the worst offender being my husband’s brown butter chocolate chip cookies! :-) I have learned that we should only bake 1-2 per person or I lose all self control. If there are certain foods that trigger you, only buy them on certain occasions. If dessert makes you hungrier, why have it at all? Maybe find a dessert that is more satisfying, or make sure you have eaten a satisfying meal beforehand so your body doesn’t feel the need to eat too much dessert. The other thing that helps satisfy my cravings after eating dessert is a glass of cold milk. Find what works for you.1 -

Most desserts are a combination of sweet, fat, and some protein. For the condition you describe to happen I believe you would have to eat no meal for several hours and eat something that was nearly entirely sugar.
I cannot eat a baked potato for a meal. I would be hungry again in about 2 hours.

I don't find that eating sugar makes me hungry. It is not as filling as some other foods for me (at least, if you mean dessert type foods that also have fat, for me fruit is quite filling), but that doesn't mean it magically makes me hungry later.
I don't eat dessert much lately, but I did most of the time I was losing (and eating at a deficit) and I found that a little something right after dinner was the best pattern for me. I was never hungry when trying to sleep.0 -
I no longer eat dessert. Every typical dessert food is way too sweet for me now. 😝1

Alternatively...
My insulin rises (not "spikes") in reaction to feeding - as a healthy body is supposed to react, a good thing not a bad thing.
My body doesn't "over-react" - must have had a good "designer"....
I dont get low blood sugar or cravings or this yo-yo effect.
When I have a high sugar day (unusual) it's to provide energy which it does very well.
You appear to be descibing an unhealthy response to eating rather than a normal healthy response to eating but without prefacing your comments to reflect that.

I'm not sure that's what OP is saying. It sounds to me like OP is repeating something he or she read somewhere.
Anyway, if one eats dessert after a regular meal, you are getting overall a balance of macros and presumably fiber. If for some reason that makes OP hungry, he or she should adjust, but assuming that one's own reaction will be what the conventional wisdom of the day is would be unwise.
I normally like a relatively low carb, higher fat and protein breakfast with vegetables, because it tastes good to me and helps me meet my goal for the day, but if traveling and the hotel free breakfast has nothing but oats and fruit, I can eat that (high carb and sugar, low fat and protein) and am typically not super hungry as a result (and can easily not eat again until lunch), although plenty of people assert that that extreme hunger must be the effect.6 -

The question wouldn't be about just dessert. It would be about any very high carb very low everything else meal/snack. A bagel, for instance, could cause a low blood sugar event in around 3 hours. This is something with which I have a bit of experience.

Also, it depends on how amazing the dessert is. My father taught me if you go to a restaurant known for awesome desserts, you should eat dessert first.5 -
