6 years ago I PROMISED myself I’d get to a healthier weight...

... and I did it! It’s a promise I don’t take lightly, and I will not let myself off the hook from this promise, I made it a priority in my life. Today I’m celebrating my 45th birthday and also celebrating maintaining the weight loss for 6 years. Making a choice to get healthier by losing 43 lbs is one of the hardest and most rewarding things I’ve ever accomplished

I've been looking for you! I find your story so inspirational and I love that you run bare foot. I have 120lbs to lose and I just took up running. You are my motivation because I want to run like you.7

Thanks! Maintenance certainly has its own challenges but I’m determined to keep the promise I made to myself all those years ago. My lifestyle has changed so much since then, I try to be as active as possible and keep challenging myself because only then will I know what I’m really capable of achieving1 -

Lol wow do I really post 4 maintenance anniversary/bday posts per year? Well so goes maintenance... it’s not as “exciting” as losing weight I suppose so it can seem quite monotonous “great job staying exactly the same!” just doesn’t have as much enthusiasm I guess
It’s a very small percentage of people who achieve their goal weight and subsequently maintain it long term. Most usually end up regaining after a couple of years... I intend to NOT follow the majority in those statistics! One of the ways I keep myself “motivated” is to share my experience with others by posting my story and pix. You just never know who you could inspire at any given moment. I would wholeheartedly encourage anyone in maintenance to find whatever motivation they can to keep on the path of the healthier lifestyle they worked so hard to achieve. In fact, here’s a couple more threads I started about “boring” ol’ maintenance, feel free to share your experiences and photos there as many times as you like

This thread is a prime example that what motivates one person isn't always the same as what motivates the next person. Maintenance is hard for many, so if that celebration of extended maintenance helps, and works for any given person, then by all means they should do it. And I think that any success story with follow ups of continued success at goals helps those that doubt their own ability to do it.
So, now that I'm already here I have one question.
Where did @RunsWithBees come from? Are the bees chasing you on your barefoot runs through the hills, or do they just try to keep up? Did you have a falling out with your favorite band?1 -

Runs With Bees is my “trail name” my son gave it to me after I ran down a very narrow trail lined with wildflowers and unavoidably disturbed the bees feeding on them as I brushed the plants when I ran past and they flew up all around me but I stayed calm and kept my running pace and made it through without getting stung once. He had run down an adjacent path and watched this, when we met up again at the bottom of the hill he exclaimed “Mom! Your new name is Runs With Bees!”
And no falling out, The Monkees are still my favorite6 -
Wow this is the first time i have seen her post and I'm here daily. She is incredible. Maintenance is hard. So keep posting. I never get tired of stories like this3

For me, maintenance is way harder than losing. And you're right. Nobody is saying, "Hey, keep up the same thing" once they get used to your new size and activity level. Worse, some people have the balls to say that it's "easier" because "you're so active!" Hmmm...
I love your posts, RWB. I love that you run barefoot. My oldest runs barefoot, but I doubt I could. As a fellow trail runner, your running photos are super fun to see. Keep posting here. You have a following!2 -
So inspiring! Way to go!1
