Hi, my name is Laura and I have a question for anyone that can beat answer this. My calorie intake is 1,520 calories a day to lose 1lb. A week should I eat the whole calorie intake daily or cut some calories out say like 320 calories remove from the total intake?...

Eat as close to the amount as possible. 👍2

Eat the whole thing. If you cut off 300 more, you will lose 1.5 pounds per week, but you will also be under the recommended minimum of 1200 calories. Plus probably starving.2

If that 1520 is the number that MFP produced when you entered your details in the set up process and you selected a rate of loss of 1lb a week then you need to stick to that 1520. It has already been calculated to include the 500 cal deficit you need to lose your 1lb.3

You should try to eat them all. And also the calories burned from any exercise. That's how MFP is designed. MFP has already reduced the calorie count in order to achieve your 1lb a week loss. If you eat less, the chances are high that you'll get hungry, lose energy and end up bingeing or ill.4

What do you mean your calorie intake?
If you put your stats in MFP in the goals section, and MFP gave you 1520 calories, then you should start by eating 1520 calories a day plus some or all of the calories added by intentional exercise.2 -
Great. Thank you all for your responses. Also Terytha you are exactly rite I have been feeling tired after workouts even after eating. Just low energy. I will stick with the 1520
Calorie intake. I was just thinking if I eat less and workout I will burn more. But that’s not the case. I’m trying to reach a goal weight of 125 but is stuck at 137. I stated out at 1460 -
It’s all about sustainability. You don’t have a load of weight to lose so it’s best to go slowly, frustrating as that can be! If you try to go too low with your calories to get there faster it’s a lot more likely you’ll fall by the wayside due to real hunger.
I started out pretty much where you started at 146, am currently 128 and aiming at 115-112. It’s taken me since the end of July to lose that 18lbs which seems crazy but I’ve been eating close to maintenance for a month recently due to shoulder surgery and wanting to heal well, but it may help to see how long it can take if you walk a sensible line.
Don’t be tempted to go lower with calories. If you stick to your 1520 and you’re patient you’ll get there faster in the end than if you over-restrict and fall off your plan because you’re underreating.4 -

What % of the calories you earn from exercise are you eating back?0 -
I basically burn off breakfast and I continue I. With lunch and dinner and snack. I workout an hour after breakfast.0
