What is your calorie goal on Thanksgiving?

I hit about 7,000 guesstimated calories last year before I tapped out. I'm going to try to beat last year's record!

I'm glad I have a brother to absorb my leftovers.

A little bit of everything. Probably around 2500.

Damn, I'm not even close. Even when I totally go all out I still tap out at like 5,000. But you did just remind me that I need to pick up some alcohol.

I stopped at the liquor store yesterday for copper camel fixin's.

I cannot even fathom what 7,000 calories in food looks like! If that fits your goals, that's great. But my deficit/maintenance are both under 2000 so I hope to stick to ~2k tomorrow by fasting until dinner at 4pm.

Holy *kitten*. I had a little over 3000 last year and thought that was a lot. I'm breastfeeding this year so maybe my increase in appetite will help me out a little lol

Last year I ran a turkey trot or whatever so I even ended up right around maintenance for the day which was crazy. I am not running this year so I'll go waayyy over I'm sure.

Alcohol makes a huge difference. ;)

Well I'm not pregnant this year so maybe I'll give that a go :D

So, I'm going out to a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner.

Normally, I'd eat WAY more calories at a restaurant meal than I would at home, but I think in this case, it's going to be less than a home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner.

It's a plated dinner at the restaurant, not a buffet, so it will be pre-portioned and no going back for seconds.

I'll also drink less, because I have to drive and restaurant drinks are expensive.

That said....for the soup, dinner, dessert, and one drink at the restaurant, I'm thinking maybe 2,000 calories? Possibly less, though.

    Y'all are an inspiration!

With GERD, I'll likely barely top 2000 on Thanksgiving. Which is about 400-500 above maintenance. I don't expect to be back at a deficit until Tuesday due to leftovers.

I don't track but I'm mindful and keep it at around maintenance

Well, I just calculated out my Thanksgiving dinner (entered recipes, etc) and it came to 1460 calories. Not positive that all amounts are 100% correct, but I have a place to start. I wasn't even planning to track, but this and the other thread about it made me curious!

If this number is accurate, I probably will top 2000 calories for the day!

Honestly I have never tracked a Thanksgiving before but I'm guessing I'' be at least like 2,500 calories.

Well, I am going to a Friendsgiving tonight and will be eating/drinking until probably midnight. So tomorrow will be more like a 16:8 Intermittent Fasting day, which is doable.

Usually, on big eating/drinking days, I run out of steam somewhere in the 5000-6000 calorie range, which is 2 x TDEE or a little more. I don't bother to log holidays anymore (too much effort for the accuracy level), since after 5+ years of (mostly) logging, I have a pretty good idea what my TDEE is, and the experience/confidence to realize that this is NBD as long as the overwhelming proportion of my days are near maintenance.

I just ate pumpkin pie for breakfast so I'm off to a good start. I just did a quick add of 2500 calories.

That’s a good question...I’m not sure. Maybe about 3,000? I guess I’ll find out soon

Ending at 200 calories above my goal. Not bad considering most of it was vegetables, cheese and turkey. Now about that leftover pie in the fridge...

With exercise calories, I ended 150 over goal. Better than I expected. Some estimates were needed because I knew my husband (who is very supportive) would've raised eyebrows if I'd brought the food scale to the Thanksgiving table. 🦃
