I'm not really in with tri people anymore
I'd love to do something fun, rent a place. At Lake Placid I just stayed at a hotel but a bunch of my friends AirBNB'd a 4-bedroom place. Maybe Santa Rosa....I have a special relationship with wine country.
i love doing races with ppl - all of my ironmen - i have met up with friends from around the country and we have done AirBnB or a hotel together - sooo much fun1 -
That's a hot ride!1

@goatg - I've also heard the CdA course is challenging, but I'd rather "embrace the suck" of a hilly bike course than pedal for hours on a pancake flat course that feels like an indoor trainer ride. And you should enter the South Beach "rust buster" Oly. Quick bike ride around southern Miami followed by rehydration in Little Havana should remove any lingering oxidation that built up over the winter.
re: 70.3 options, couple more venues came to mind. IM bought the REV3 Maine race. IM Maine 70.3 received good reviews from my tri club pals. Rolling bike course was fun, and the water in Sept isn't that cold. If you want a more exotic option, a few of us have been thinking about the IM Portugal Cascais 70.3 race. Its supposed to be a beautiful place, and lends itself to a vacation in Portugal/Spain following the event.
I love climbing. Love, love, love. Only problem is there are no hills in Boston. I've done the CdA on an indoor computrainer! Lol. Don't knock it! That 14-15% grade felt real lol.
Hahaha. I should do it. April 19....I'm traveling 4/5-4/13 (&2/5-2/15, and likely another week in-between). That's a lot travel....and excuses.
Did I mention I signed up for a 70.3? In CT, 5/31I might do a late season full....

ohh you are doing the race that was previously known as the beast of the northeast - when it was under Rev3
@goatg - Miami's an easy flight, so why not? I've already sent a bunch of VRBO and AirBnB options to my posse for review. I'm shipping my bike down there via TriBike transport. Looking forward to riding my Felt on the causeway!
Ct 70.3 huh? My "easy" Spring 70.3, the Patriot Half, may not happen for me, since we received a wedding invitation for that same day. So I'm already feeling a bit wimpy for not entering the Ct race. Your news isn't helping that, lol.
@deannalfisher - Since you've previously raced LP, I think you're due for a visit to the Beast in May. Its the perfect tune up for IMCDA.0 -

I think so? Quassy. 2018? I think that was one of their worst run years. Literally up and down.

So much travel lol. Actually CT wasn't my first choice for a Half --just happened to work out that way with timing (plus local reduces potentialtime-related travel complications).
Patriot Half. Is that in MA? I hope you can defer it. You have a wedding invitation? I didn't hear "RSVP" ;p0 -
