MFP should display calories from net carbs

Hi all
While not on a ketogenic diet, I need to count my carbs. As I eat my veggies, my fiber is between 40 to 80 gr per day, which is not negligible when my total carbs are 200 to 250gr. It would be great if the chart for protein/carb/fat percentages used net carbs instead of carbs. Am I missing a setting with the app?

No, you’re not missing a setting.

Simply subtract the fibre total from the carb total to get your net carbs if such a number interests you.

tontondam - this is a site used internationally. In many countries, nutrition labels are displayed as net carbs, users simply enter this as carbs. In the U.S. total carbs are on nutritional labels. Because the database here is user entered, you have a combination of (net) carb entries and total carb entries. This site has no way of determining which is which. A setting wouldn't help you much.

You can create your own net carb entries or add the term net carb to find ones others made. In many countries (as noted above), entries are already net carb, so subtracting fiber automatically would be double counting it.

As you are in the US, if you are looking at a doctor or dietitian recommended carb number, you might want to check to be sure it's net carbs and not assuming it includes fiber. Normally here in the US I'd understand a recommendation such as "around 150 g carbs over the day, split between the meals, and at least 30+ g of fiber" to include the fiber in the carb number. When I did low carb for a while I looked at total carbs (I did look at net carbs when I did keto briefly, but I just subtracted the fiber in my head).
